Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Brian O'Neill signed to an extension.....makes a ton of sense.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Necessary signing and a fair contract. Good to see.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 I'm glad they extended him, but I do think it's an overpay. O'Neill is maybe the 8th/9th best RT in the game, probably deserving of $13/14M a year, but instead they're paying him like a LT. Hopefully his game will improve as his contract goes up in cap hits.

I'm really struggling to support this team right now. I almost want them to fail out of spite for the reckless and carless GM. Zimmer needs to call him out directly. I don't think there are any concerns about them failing this year. Be thankful that they are embarrassing themselves early so we can spend our Sundays doing other things.

I think we’re really starting to see the effect of the new massive TV contract due to arrive next year. Similar to the Kirk deal in 2018, O’Niell’s contract will eventually slide to top 10 in 1-2 years.

Good offensive linemen are hard as hell to find, you can't risk him hitting the market.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Sean Mannion is getting promoted from the practice squad. Meaning he’s almost certainly the #2 QB. Why? I don’t imagine anyone actually thinks Mannion could win an NFL game. Who cares if the #2 has (minimal) NFL experience? If Cousins goes down, they’ll lose the game unless they’re up big. If he’s out long term, the season is over.

I guess they trust him more than Mond... but ideally I wouldn't want Mond getting into a game before he is ready. So if they're guaranteed to lose without Kirk, then it doesn't matter who's at QB. Then again, if Mond is ready to go... they had better not let a mediocre vet like Mannion block him.

Not sure I’d call him mediocre. Actually, I have him right here.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 So, where does everyone think this Viking team ends up? I think they win the North with 11 wins. But I'm an optimist. ?
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 I, uh, may have overrated the o-line.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Author Posted September 12, 2021 Now 11. Rashod Hill is awful
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 I assume it would be considered knee-jerk to fire the OC at half time? How can the offense be so undisciplined?
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Bradbury is having a pretty bad half, too

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 At least Breelund getting that starting job was a good decision.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Fire Zimmer.....too soon? Never been a fan. Also, the FO. Blow it up.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 10 Penalties in 1 half? That’s an indictment of this team’s coaching. They better step it up.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Sure looked down to me.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Vikings played bad but officials had a pretty bad day, too. Ugly loss.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Fire them all. Trade them all. Start over. Awful loss.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 They completely beat themselves. They should’ve beaten the Bengals but they didn’t. If they play like this against Arizona they are getting rolled.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Author Posted September 12, 2021 Aaron Rodgers was just benched. Let’s trade for him!
