Of course, Lewis, Kirilloff, etc., guys who spent the summer in St. Paul, aren't there at this time.

See almost all of the names of players we would consider prime prospects. What are the dates for this instructional League? Will they be playing any games against other teams, say the Red Sox who are down the street?

 

After today's cuts, I am guessing this represents about a third of their minor league guys...maybe 40% if you don't include the guys who were in St. Paul all summer. Are there league limitations on how many they can have in this camp? Will there be another camp later in fall for some of those not included in this group?

I would think there will be some major attrition in the minors this year. Players just moving on with their lives. So much uncertainty with COVID and changes to minor league system.

I'm not sure if they're going to play other teams. I know they've been playing intrasquad games every other day or so and otherwise working on skill development.

There are definitely restrictions on how many can be at instructional camps and they have to get everything approved from MLB. I'm sure whatever the max number they can have is what they have. 

 

If this goes well, I'm sure that they'll do more, as they would in a "normal" offseason.

I am guessing the cuts are in relation to the decrease in the number of minor league teams.  So was not surprised, am expecting the major leagues are hoping that the number of independent teams increases, so the players can develop, but the major league teams will not have to pay for them.  That is sad, few make it, but there is always the exception.

I know most of them but am sorry to agree with you that some are mysteries to me. I think those are mostly 2019 draftees. Oh how I missed the milb season and the daily updates!

Agree on the "Uggh!" comment on the cuts. I think we all knew cuts were coming sooner or later. It just happened to come later way post draft time. But I still say kudos to the Twins for keeping everyone onboard for the season. There were a couple names released that did surprise me. I guess I'm assuming part of that is related to affiliate crunches moving forward. (NOT a fan)!

 

Happy to hear there actually is an instructional league taking place. Guess I missed where things were open enough to proceed with one. (Though I heard today Florida had lifted restrictions). Really hoping the players on the taxi squad can also join in soon.

It would be nice to have box scores for the instructional league games. I guess we will never again have the occasional days when there were six different minor league teams playing.

Will Baddoo become a bad a-- hitter? It is a shame that minor leagues will be shrinking. They are the life blood of many small towns. This will further erode the baseball fans across the country as many kids will have less live exposure to the game. I have been involved with minor league baseball in a small city (Kinston, NC) and know how important baseball is to them.

Took another look at that roster this morning, Seth. Surprised that Ober isn't on the list. Is he dealing with an injury?
