Heck man, the guy looks heartbroken. Manager did him dirty there

Eh. He's a big league pitcher. He should be able to make better pitches than that. I will agree though that Rocco doesn't know how to manage a bullpen.

My first appearance in college went like this. Just couldn’t get an out. Always has a soft spot for situations like this

Same here, except high school and more balks!

He wasn’t one until his manager stupidly chose that situation to throw him into the fire

So hindsight's 20-20, but if you want to get Colina in over the weekend, are you confident there's going to be a better opportunity Saturday or Sunday?

Would you rather bring him in up two? What's the odds you'll be up five and feel better about it? You hope you're not down two or more on Saturday or Sunday.

I mean, the finally three days of the season is a heck of a time to break anyone in who hasn’t been in a real game situation that mattered all year. Surely there were other chances to get him out there this year instead of some of the other guys we saw, some more than one time around

What is the point of even bringing him up? What could he possibly show in two outings that would make him a more trustworthy option than Rogers, Romo, Clippard, Wisler, Alcala, Duffey, or May? And I'm probably missing a couple from our motley crew of bullpen arms.

That's a separate issue, and I don't disagree that it seems odd to have brought him up in the first place.

My point is, since they DID bring him up and they want to see him get an inning, how confident are you that there will be a better time than down two with only three outs left on offense? And who would you have rather shot for tomorrow's game?

You want a serious answer? 40-man issues. Here at the tail end of the season, the team decided Bailey couldn't help them so they could use his 40-man spot. If they bring up Colina earlier, they have to keep him on the 40-man all year plus probably use an option if he is not ready. They brought up guys like Gearrin and Coulumbe and Minaya knowing they could and would DFA when they needed room on both the 40-man and active roster.

I was surprised that the team let Bailey go. I thought he might have a chance to be the fifth starter in the second round. They do have Odorizzi, Dobnak and Smeltzer, probably in that order, to be a fifth starter if needed. With three days off between the first round and the second round (in the bubble), I guess they wouldn't need a fifth starter until Game 5 of the second series.

It did seem odd to let him go. But if you look at their current roster, what pitcher would you take off, given that Odo or Dobnak will likely be activated in Colina's spot for the wild card round and someone else will need to be taken off for the one of those in the next round?

Gold point, I’m not at all well versed in the ins and outs of the 40 man rules, especially this year.

Top 10 worries going into the playoffs:

10) Lack of momentum if the Twins fail to beat Cincy at least once.

9) Berríos lack of ace-ness

8) Taylor Rogers might be the second best Rogers twin.

7) Garver only hits one ball solid every other day.

6) Marwin is hitting like a light-hitting utility infielder.

5) Cruz is looking the part of a 40-year old man.

4) There is no sure thing to close games.

3) Sanó is a mess at the plate.

2) Donaldson's calf

1) Buxton!

It's not a question of being more trustworthy than our best pen guys. I think they were curious if they could tack Colina on to the end of the pen, like they did with Graterol last October (and tried to do with Alcala last year too). I'm guessing they weren't as confident about it as they were with Graterol though, or we probably would have seen Colina earlier in September.
