As soon as season 2 is done in cancelling A+. if I mysteriously disappear, I probably mustered the courage to cancel Netflix and my wife murdered me for it The Morning Show was also good, but not Ted Lasso good. I'm told that Mythic Quest is good also, but we haven't watched it. Why would you cancel it while it is still free? You might find another show you like....

I really enjoyed the mini series. Other than that and Ted Lasso, you’re right. The platform doesn’t have much to offer.

Unlike most other services, Apple TV+ had virtually no back-fill content at launch. Considering that, it’s actually rather impressive they have as much quality content as they do in just 2-ish years of existence.

I’ll forget and they’ll start charging me, and then it’ll be like trying to cancel the Wall Street Journal. They’ll say they cancelled it, but then keep charging me hoping I’ll forget again

It's not a hard system to navigate, make it work for you instead of against you. Right now, I'm Apple TV+, Amazon, and D+. Next month, I'll probably move back to Hulu. The month after that, maybe Acorn or BritBox.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I'm considering bingeing every classic Dr Who on britbox...... No idea why, and I likely won't, but considering it
a-wan Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 We got HBO Max with our cable. I've watched some of the Warner Bros premiere movies, but the last month I've gone through the DC collection. Titans and Doon Patrol were surprisingly good.

But ya, that's probably why I won't do it.

Dodecahedron Twins Daily Jail Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I'm a huge Who fan. I *loved* the Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes as a kid. The first Doctor's episodes can drag, and the second Doctor's episodes were mostly erased. Luckily, all the audio exists and it seems like every year brings us another couple of animated episodes made from the existing audio. Many of the Peter Davison episodes are worth watching. Production values fell through the floor after that, and later the stories. The last couple of years for the classic series are unwatchable. I suspect they switched to a Commodore Amiga near the end to produce the episodes and for the special effects, so the video quality over the last few years is similar to a cable access show or a well-used VCR tape. The TV Movie made in the mid-90s is a fun episode. People called it "too American" (even though it was a Canadian production), but truth me told, it's very similar to the new series. This episode also gave Sylvester McCoy his first chance to shine as the character.

I perhaps should have been taking notes so i caught everything, but it does require a certain dedicated attention span... Not entirely unlike watching this season of the Twins' games. I would say it was worth it.

I really like the early intros for their use of video effects of the time, and the anthem is one of the few bits of music employing a theremin, which really endears it to me. But yeah, as it gets to the 80s, they get progressively cheesier. As for the various plots, they range from pretty cool sci fi, to some over the top monster of the week plots, but the progression of plots involving the daleks are often quite inspired in both directions: the absurdity of a monster that isn't much more than a cardboard box and a plunger that has no indoor voice, and the intricate back and forth between the doctor and them as age old adversaries. And the use of the tardis/time travel as allowing the writers to set the story anywhere and anywhen, but not useful or reliable to be used to solve the immediate problem of the plot line. Heck, the third doctor being exiled to Earth and becoming a consultant for UNIT is an excellent set up. Anyway, yeah. It is a lot, but it was worth it.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I finally started watching Mythic Quest. It's quite good... until you get to episode 5, "A Dark Quiet Death", which slaps you upside the head in a way you will not see coming. Stellar episode and very good show overall.

We haven't had it for a couple of months now after having it for three-ish months.
