Tortuga is back... Poppen Called Up!

Tortuga STARTING at 2nd Base! Arraez at shortstop. Why not bring up Gordon then! Give him a week with some games at short (and second). We need to look at him. Thought for sure they would rest Sano. All those extra swings the Big Guy did.

Poppen is deserving, but, yes, what about Jake Reed. Now we HAVE TO KEEP POPPEN on the roster. So we have two over - Torreyes (who will not be added back on when his "whatever" ends) and Mejia will have to bump someone at some point, maybe. Who do you think the Twins could lose off the current 40-man?

I thought about Gordon also but Garver just played 17 innings behind the plate. They get more flexibility with Astudillo. Garver may get a few days off from catching. They certainly don’t want to have to put him in there if something were to happen to Castro tonight.

That’s right. Who could ever forget about former All Star Ron Coomer?

fixed.

But I hate everything else about these moves. I've seen enough Tortuga for a lifetime.

Are you still sure about that?

It takes more than 1 good game to impress me.

C'mon.

He's La Tortuga. (With apologies to Breaking Bad):

"Hey, white boy. My name's Tortuga. You know what that means?"

He's just the next in a long line of mediocre fan favorites that I don't like - LaMarre, Colon, Punto, etc.

I hope he does well and helps the team, but there's nothing he can do that will make me enjoy watching him swing at every pitch hurled in his direction.

Rocco must hate Gibson with that middle infield.

Indeed. That was a questionable decision. I get that Polanco and Schoop played 17 innings yesterday. Most everyone on both teams did. Gibson is still primarily a ground ball pitcher and the Twins 3 worst infielders are all playing. That’s not good managing IMO.

Garver shouldn’t need more than one day to be fine.

He needed today and Astudillo insured that Garver wouldn’t play. We will see if Garver plays catcher tomorrow.

I heard that Parker left Minnesota immediately after the game ended, so it seems that there is a legitimate family emergency. Methinks if this wouldn't have come up, Littell would have been optioned for Poppen.

I would imagine Poppen's reward for sucking up 4 innings last night is an early flight to Rochester. Who do they recall?

Depends on the severity of Parker’s emergency. He might be back.

Stewart would be rested, last pitched on June 14.

Also on the 40-man, Thorpe and Smelter each pitched more recently. Eades and Romero are ineligible to be recalled yet. Vasquez is hurt. Moya has been pretty ineffective?

Jake Reed please.

That would require another 40 man move. That’s fine, but I would prefer that to be for a legitimate trial rather than an emergency stop gap.

Don't do it. Husky ballplayers with marginal talent are folk heroes in these parts.

Butch Husky?
