Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 No chance with this embarrassing offensive line.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Any chance this game follows the same as the Pitts vs Jax game from earlier today? One team totally outplayed...pathetic looking offense...down 2 scores late in the game only to comeback and winI was waiting for the GB-CHI game from early in the season when Chicago pissed away a nice lead in the 2nd half. Not gonna happen here.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Who the hell is he throwing to?
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Who the hell is he throwing to? Cousins has just been plain bad tonight. That was an awful throw with no pressure.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Step 1: Stop throwing to Treadwell.Step 2: Put Simien in until Cousins promises to follow step 1.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Cousins has just been plain bad tonight. That was an awful throw with no pressure.Yep, for the first time I'm starting to see what the Cousins doubters were seeing.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I like that the Bears are going into an early prevent.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Well this likely puts them out of the division title picture. Going to have to fight it out with a few teams for a wild card now.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Fire the offensive coordinator. Now. As for the OL.... I'm told it is not the problem, over and over. If they don't make the playoffs, does anyone have a job?

Expectations were sky high, and Spielman has been in charge for a long time now, with several individual accomplishments, but no meaningful postseason results.

Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Again, Zimmer's team's cannot control their emotions. Zimmer needs to go ASAP.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Minnesota sports: Always waiting for the mythical championship window to open up. I don't think that's fair at all. This team went out and signed the best QB free agent in a long, long time. They tried to make their window, so I'm not sure it's reasonable at all to accuse them of "waiting"
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Congrats Harrison for spazzing out and putting them in FG range to ice the game. Will there be any consequences? Not with Zimmer at the helm.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I'm starting to think Defilippo is just hitting the random play ball button. What an odd time to call a RB screen, down 11 with 2 minutes to go and the defense playing a soft zone.

Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 what “consequences” do you want to see?Sit for a half next week. Show everyone that nobody gets to put their own selfish emotions ahead of the team, star player or not. You can say it's counterproductive to sit a good player, but I don't agree, only because we see this constantly from this team. Clearly they don't fear any consequences.
David HK Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Heh... I think I'm repeating a comment from the last prime-time game. Bright lights, big game, tight, tight, tight purple collars.... Gack!
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I listened to the first half and watched the second. Still think this bears team is overhyped. Vikings made some adjustments in the second half and were much more competitive. The offensive line is going to sink this team, and should sink Spielman too. Play calling needs to be more creative to keep cousins from getting killed every play.

Unfortunately it's not working out and we as fans are stuck waiting again for a super bowl window to open up.

What an odd time to call a RB screen, down 11 with 2 minutes to go and the defense playing a soft zone.I think we got duped into thinking he is a creative play caller after we got blown out in Philly last year. I'm not impressed with the bland play calling...
rv78 Verified Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I would prefer they get away from the 2 yard passes. If you can't throw the ball downfield then you should be able to run for 2 yards. Is Cousins a mobile QB? How often does he roll out to get away from a pass rush? Not very often....to never. How many batted balls did he have again last night? I didn't watch the entire game but I think he is over-rated and now, thanks to the Vikings, over-paid. True, a porous off-line doesn't help but will it ever be any better under Zimmer? He's a defense guy. Took a safety with the first round pick last year where it is clear they need help up front.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 The OL has to get better... Otherwise it doesn't matter if "overpaid" Cousins is at QB or Tom Brady in his prime. Any QB would look bad behind this group of players.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Obviously, the Vikings aren't a super bowl contender this year. That said, last nights game was winnable. The OL is horrible but Zimmer has to get a little more aggressive. Eventually, some coach is going to figure out that going for it regularly on 4th down is a good idea. With our defense, it would make sense for the Vikings to be that team. I think we'll still make the playoffs and if we're the top wildcard, that likely means a road game against the NFC East champ (right?) which we could probably win. Then a road game against the Rams, which we probably can't.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I didn't watch much, just can't watch this team not be what it should. But, two things: Zimmer is way too conservative for me, been saying it since he got here. The OL will sink this team, no matter what anyone here might say, this OL is not good enough. I doubt I'll watch much more this year, unless something drastically changes. I got things to do, like clean the house.

Maybe next year the GM will make it a priority.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I mean, if the OL could do one thing well - either run block or pass block - we'd have something but they can't run for anything so the defense just rushes the QB and we can't really slow them down. I know Cousins didn't have his best day but frankly, the way the line was letting defenders into the backfield, I don't really blame him.
pbrezeasap Provisional Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Did anyone else notice Cousins windmilling his arm before/after plays on at least a couple occasions? I don't remember ever seeing him do that in other games and wonder if something happened to his shoulder and he was trying to loosen it up. His deep balls have been really good, but I don't think anything over 15 yards was even close last night. I realize the Bears have a great defense and he was under lots of pressure, but he's been getting pressured a ton all season and had still been able to make accurate deep throws.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 You would think it is easy to find out the Vikings' record in prime time games... But I can't find it. Seems like they lose significantly more prime time games than they win over the years.
