Wow.

We just got little leagued

We worked endlessly to defense that play in LL... In keeping with the concept of the positive GT, I will note that I have seen stronger more accurate throws to the plate in that situation. :(

The announcers are talking about Carew and stealing home. Made me think that if Carew were around today, Danny Duffy would go ape spit on him.

Used to say he alligator armed the throw.

Just had a chance to comment on the double steal. I'm surprised nobody here mentioned how Garver gave up on the play and didn't see that Allen's slide took him past the plate. Garver could and should have tagged him before he came back to touch.

Garver just isn’t a good defender. I saw him give up and just rolled my eyes (again).

Good point. This would have required Garver to set up to make a catch and sweep tag. Like you said, he gave up on it and went for the standard knock it down.

I have noticed I agree with you about 75% of the time. :)

There are three types of players who play catcher: Hitters who can catch, catchers who can't hit, and the rarest breed--catchers who can hit. It's becoming apparent that Garver is in the first category.

Are we sure Garver can hit?

This is one of the 25%. I am not sure Garver can hit, but I am sure he cannot hit well enough to carry that glove. He is wandering into Robbie G territory.

Walk came back to haunt Lynn.  I really wonder how much of his high ERA is due to walks.   He has a ton of them and they all seem to score.

Anyone else think that if a runner tries to avoid a tag such that he cannot reach home plate with his slide he should simply be called out for running out of the base line.    This goes hand in hand with the idea that now that the catcher cannot block the plate in any way he has to reach to make the tags more than he used to and that giving the runner the chance to go around the tag to the extent he can't reach home plate is just too much of an advantage.  Yes, Garver could have made the effort but I think the guy still scores.   Yes, lousy throw by Dozier though I think it was mostly caused by the double clutch.

Since I had back surgery Tues I am on a nice supply of Opiods. They make my back happy. Called the Doc 10 min ago and asked if I could take enough Opiods to make Lynn and Garver look like a MLB battery? He said only if I was in W. VA or KY. :)

The runner has to be more than three feet away from the base path to be called out. Allen only missed the plate by a few inches so clearly he was within the rules.
