Twins miss Polanco

I found a new way to follow the Twins: check the box scores in the morning. No longer do I watch every pitch and every inning in reverence to my favorite team. It’s too draining, too emotional watching game after game with no signs of improving. Last night’s game, again featuring no offensive production, was the proverbial straw that broke the camal’s back. But I have an idea why this happens nearly every game.

The Twins have sorely missed their suspended SS Jorge Polanco. His presence in the 3rd spot in the batting order not only balanced out their lineup, but his production in the second half was one of the reasons our boys sprinted to the playoffs, albeit only one game. With Polanco in the lineup, it frees up Escobar to go back to the utility roll player he has played so well in the last several years. Polanco also gives them a much needed productive right handed hitter in a lineup that has trouble with lefties. He has some power, speed, and was a run producer last year. His defense was surprisingly OK.

Baseball, like other sports, is supposed to be entertaining. The Twins are far from that now. They are the opposite of entertaining. Let’s hope Polanco gives them a jolt when he comes back!

Yeah, the injuries and suspensions and rain outs and Molitor haven't helped things. But this team needs to start winning. There's a lot of season left but we're flat out bad right now.

I do hope that Polanco (or Gordon) gives the team a real short stop.

Tough to watch games against one of the worst teams in baseball. 1 run in 14 innings is pathetic!

Does anyone know if Polanco can play in minor league games before his suspension is up, or can he partake in any team activities in Florida, for example?

Jorge Polanco (suspended) can begin a 20-game rehab assignment in the minor leagues starting on June 12.

The tone when he was initially suspended was quite different.

The majority feeling, IIRC, was that they had a deep lineup, and wouldn't miss him.

Escobar did a solid job replacing him, but once Sano went down and Adrianza became the everyday SS, that's when we started feeling it.

Apparently sometimes people are wrong! This would be one of those times, alas.
