That could have been another unwritten rule, but it's too late for that now. . Which made me think, unless you are talking directly to someone, how can an unwritten rule be discussed, and remain unwritten? ?

It's one thing to beat out a ground ball that a second baseman would normally turn into an out. It's entirely another to beat it so badly that there's no need to bother with a throw.
