East Coast Twin Verified Member Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 LaVelle E. Neal reports that the Twins actually offered Kevin Maitan more than the Angels did. Given the number of SS prospects already in the Twins system, Maitan chose to sign with the Angels. LaVelle also reports that the Twins are pursuing another, unnamed former Braves prospect. And they are not done. I've been told that they like their chances to of signing one of the former Braves players who were declared free agents recently. Not as highly regarded as Maitan, but someone they like. So stay tuned. http://www.startribune.com/twins-just-missed-on-coveted-baseball-prospect-kevin-maitan/462600173/
markos Provisional Member Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Thanks for sharing. While I think Maitan is a bit overrated right now, it would have been a good get.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Is there a word for being disappointed, reassured and understanding at the same time? The French probably have something for that. Just good to know that the Twins only fault in this matter was having too many good SS prospects. It's pretty much been confirmed that the Twins chased hard for Maitan and Ohtani, it's hard to believe their interest in Darvish then too isn't legit. Let's not swing through strike three, knock this next one out of the park.
howieramone2 Verified Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Darvish is hardly strike 3. We're still in the early innings.

Salo for Ohtani after he was said to have wanted a smaller marker. "J'espere " still for Darvish

ashbury Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Shirt without an R? You did not think something like that when an obtainable. potentially decent mlb player signs elsewhere for less money? I figured if we're throwing around extra 'R's, I'd join the fun.

ashbury Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Well... this thread really delivered I plead guilty, but in fairness the thread was perhaps made irrelevant when the Twins did in fact sign an interesting player, as speculated.
