Part of being ready is fielding your position. Mejia has failed countless times. Maybe he should have been sent to AAA where he can be working on these fundamentals and also get the message that they are valued by the organization.

Rajai Davis has a set of wheels on him.  No chance that they get him at first if Mejia would have gotten a better start off the mound.  And if they try to get Davis and Mejia's back is turned to the plate and/or bobbles the ball, maybe that run scores.  So it might have been better that he hesitated and Mauer doesn't make the toss.

. Ponce de Leon... Think he is involved in this in some capacity

There's a major street in Atlanta called Ponce de Leon. They pronounce it "ponss duh LEE-on." It's a bit maddening.

That's debatable, but that doesn't change the premise of the post.  He needs to get better at fielding his position.

I would have lost a lot of bets on that one.

You're certainly not the only one. I expected the numbers to be far worse when I looked them up during the Dodger series.

You know, I like Mejia quite a bit.  He has some work to do, but I think he has the skills to be a solid mid-rotation guy.

No, not bad. MLB average is .283.

The lack of slugging hurts though, .381 vs a league mark of .462.

What is the batting average with the bases loaded when I'm watching.

Asking the important questions.

Where the hell is fangraphs on this!?

Just got home from watching a minor league game where the bulk of the scoring action was in the opening an closing innings.

Ended on a play that seemed to pull the baseman off the bag, but the ump rulled an out...

Can go into more game detail, but don't wanna steal another poster's thunder.

What all close difficult umping did i miss here?

Any chance Cleveland or KC will lose a game in the near future? Both teams have taken the leads tonight (again) going into the bottom of the 9th. Drat!

Man, I went to get beer and I missed the Sano bomb.

On the bright side, I have beer.

I saw the Sano bomb but do not have beer.

There is an old Latin saying: "If the wind will not serve, take to the oars."

Your answer is gin, my friend.

That's another latin saying.

It translates to "Only you can prevent forest fires"

Granite hits so many singles, he'd be a great leadoff batter. Having Granite then Dozier in the lineup would make a ton of sense.

Edit: He's gonna need to figure out how to steal bases in the majors first.

Say that reminds me of a story my friend tells of the playboy mansion.

Apparently the grounds were overrun by old guys in robes growing flowers, and someone reported the problem to Mr. Hefner, who went outside and scolded them and they went away, leaving the groundskeepers bewildered, until someone explained...

That joke gets a 9 from me.

That's because... Skeleton walks into a bar and says give me a beer and a... mop... Is the only 10 that has ever existed.

I shall relay that to the friend what told me it.

Van, I think plinks could be the metaphorical game representing pitching prospects. They all look good when you drop/draft them. A few bad bounces off those pegs and your plinko has caromed far from the "Kershaw" slot you were aiming for, and ended up in the Kohl Stewart slot.

Come on, man! It's practically a straight shot. Aim better next time.

I always wanted to play plinko... Followed closely behind the yodeling mountaineer game.
