DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 OK...I know a lot of these posts are good fun, but Polanco has been mostly good to very good this season until just recently. Tins of ability offensively and defensively. Can we give him just a little more time before we make a permanent decision/opinion? That being said, I've been impressed by Adrianza...who has made a couple bad plays himself here and there...both offensively and defensively. Who shared the post recently from a scout or expert who stated Vielma reminded him of Vizquel? Magician with the glove who won't hit his first few years but could develop. Could we live with that and move Polanco to 2B? Riverbrian 1

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I don't think the Twins will contend until 2019, for the simple fact that Molitor won't figure out not to use Duffey in important situations until 2019. Squirrel and twinsnorth49 2

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Granite needs to somehow beyond all odds hit a home run here before the foul weather rolls in
Blake Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 The Twins seem to be able to turn around mediocre shortstops and make them viable.Nunez went from a complete bust at SS to a viable utility guy who started to hit around .300.Escobar was thought to be a AAAA player at best and has shown some pop and can start without being a liability.Adrianza, if he keeps it up, is a guy who couldn't hit to save his life but now he suddenly is.The reason I move Polance before I move Escobar or Adrianza is that Polanco is supposed to be able to hit which, in theory, makes up for his defensive shortcomings. When things started this year, Polanco was making the plays he was supposed to make and doing a decent job of hitting. Now, Polanco is doing neither. I get that players go through slumps but Escobar just seems like a very steady player. Not flashy, but will consistently make the plays. Adrianza looks like a defensive wizard who may be able to hit a bit more than people thought. I think that makes Polanco the odd man out. Granted, small sample size, Polanco versus Adrianza. His career minor league OPS is .750 something, and his last real good season was in rookie ball. I think people sometimes see what they want to see. Mike Sixel, Squirrel and Blake 3

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 WTF? Was that a pep talk from the home plate umpire to a Yankees pitcher????
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 It's possible. The wind comes in from left field, sees the Twins pitching, makes a U-turn, and exits via right field. Or a very tiny low pressure system in CF with tight isobars. But usually when that happens... Granite would not be in Kansas in anymore.
