Are we done jumping to conclusions on Falvey & Co. ?

The Twins tried to sign Mike Napoli in the off-season. The 35 year old signed with Texas. His OPS last year was .800.

Both Robbie Grossman and Kennys Vargas had an OPS over .800 last year. Both are under team control for a while (Vargas until 2022, Grossman until 2021). Both are hitting better than Napoli this year.

I'm not going to judge them on any single move. It occurs, however, that they have the opinion that guys they sign (like Haley & Beilse) are more likely t get a shot at getting and keeping a position than the guys that they inherited.

That makes me uncomfortable.

Right! I was yelling at the screen.... NOOOOOOOOOO. Another point in the not jumping to either conclusion, yet.

theres 6 holes in the pitching staff. Can't fill all those holes from the minors. Agreed, the FO needs to audition minor leaguers, but "when" is the rub. I don't think all of the guys mentioned are, or ever will be, ready. I have trust that Falvine will bring them up as they are deemed ready.

They are competing now. Need to do what's best for today for the big league club, and for the development of the young/milb players

I agree 100%.  But you need to get these prospects up from the minors to find out which ones will fill these positions, and which ones will not.  Then you find other alternatives to the pieces you have missing.

And, right on cue we get a great 3.1 innings, just 6 earned runs from another marvelous waiver wire pick up Adam Wilk, who now has a 7.84 WHIP.

These games have to be the last straw for Turley and Wilk, right?

So, lets move on from them.  We gave Jason Wheeler a chance.  Now lets give David Hurlbut a chance.  And after him,Aaron Siegers.  They can't be that much worse.

Free. David. Hurlbut.

I would think they are not even close to the free pass. They did nothing in the off season and have done nothing going to help a first place club. They want to sit around and evaluate while this chance goes down the drain.

Interesting that the clubhouse culture improved as soon as we got off to a hot start and did some winning...

I agree there's probably some of this too.  I don't think they are mutually exclusive though.

2 starts for Turley. 1 start and 2 relief appearances for Wilk. Last straw? Really? I would give Turley one more start and if he bombs again, try him in the pen for a couple weeks. If that doesn't work out, then move on. This season is the first time he's had any success above A ball really. It's not unreasonable to believe that his indy league coaches had him try something new. It's worth a brief audition to see if it plays at the MLB level.

Don't give a hill of beans about Wilk. He's almost 30 and has never been that good even at AAA.

What's the difference between Hurlbut and Turley?  Or Andrew Albers for that matter...

One can throw 95 mph fastballs, and has an out pitch.  Guess who?

If Turley has an out pitch, he should consider throwing it sometime.
