  1. Thank you for bringing up the comparison. Moderators had muted me when I tried to comment on Darvish and this topic a month ago. IMO Kimbrell would have signed with the Cubs unless the Twins massively had the bigger offer. Now let's use some of these prospects and go get us a closer before the deadline.
  2. Thank you for your views. 200 innings is fair however sometimes durability issues make it a 2 or 3 year time period before that number is reached. Just as we both add up the wins for the Twins this year I also will be comparing Darvish and our additions 1 start at a time and at the end of the season we can compare numbers. Hopefully everone stays healthy so the comparison is over 1 season in your 200 inning time period.
  3. I expected those who supported the Darvish signing to be vocal! If his first outing was like Odorizzi, we would we seeing their positive posts for him instead. If after 10 starts he is tearing it up then good for him. I will still compare his starts to our signings nothing more and nothing less. Guess I could have waited for 3,5,7,10 starts.
  4. No what Im doing is comparing our signings with Darvich. IMO the Twins couldnt afford a bad Darvish contract so again IMO it is worth following.
  5. I think you need to read what I said over again.
  6. Hmmmm!!!!!!!!!! 126 million over 6 years. Threw atleast 100 pitches without getting out of the 5th inning for only the second time in his career. Against the Marlins mind you. 4.1 innings 5 runs 5 hits 2 walks 2 hit batters. I know I know this is only 1 game but something interesting to compare to our 2 additions Odorizzi and Lynn. Twins couldnt afford to have Darvish contract blow up in their face for 6 years.
  7. Odorizzi was tough. He knows how to pitch. Worked both sides of the plate and kept bats off balance with breaking stuff. His fast ball up in the zone absolutely tied batters up. Hoping that the rest of the staff can duplicate the command. Optomistic after watching him.
  8. TR was a good man who's time had come to find a new job. No way he would have improved the team as much in as short of time as it is now. Hughes,Nolasco,Pelfrey,Correia,Marquis were all pitching free agent misses by T.R.. The one good signing Santana. Oh and 1 more name that was released DAVID ORTIZ!
  9. This young man makes it difficult for the "glass half empty voices on this site" to say anything negative. Hard worker, humble and just gets it. It doesnt matter what position he ends up playing Lewis will be fun to watch mature.
  10. Either you're a believer or not. Let's believe that now "yes I'll have my eggs odor izzi" will regain his 3 slot stuff. He is only 27 and has proven that he can do the job.
  11. When you say if you had to lean one way or another, Tampa got the better of the deal. COME ON MAN!
  12. Like most trades only time will tell who got the better end of the trade. I believe Falvey is a capable and bright baseball mind. I believe any decisions that are made by him are to make the Twins a better team. I believe that he has more information than any of us to make these decisions. I believe he is a better GM than any of us. Some posters might not agree with these beliefs by the sound of it!
  13. Or just maybe in this case you have a pitcher that is top 3 in salary on a team that also designated another top 3 salary the same day. Salary dump! Odorizzi trended down last year but finished strong and Tampa believes they can replace him with a young cheaper arm since the team is going nowhere. I dont have Tampa GM on speed dial so don't know what other offers they had. From the Twins perspective, only a glass half empty view can look at this trade and not feel optomistic. This trade buys us time for the young guys and improves our rotation vs. 2017.
  14. If you read what their front office is saying they absolutely believe that Palacios is going to be a stud. Odorizza was their 2 or 3 pitcher and yes they had doubts about him going forward due to high home run totals. Most importantly they have numerous young arms to throw out there. As far as someone beating the Twins offer you'll have to tell me what Tampa Bay was looking for as their best offer for him.
