I can't believe nobody else has either commented or made a post about the possibility of the Twins making a deal.

It's my understanding he can't be optioned, which complicates matters.

He's been so bad, with bad peripherals, that it's kinda risky to audition him at the big league level.

Just read the same thing on MLBTR.  It's the reason why he was put into DFA-land.  Still, at only a 1 year contract at $3.52MM, how much of a risk is this?

Notice I did not say 'only $3.52MM'     ;)

He has a bit of a prickly personality but might be worth taking a chance on.   Especially if we exchange him for Belisle.  Maybe a fresh start will get him back on track.  There might also be some merit to wait until he goes on waivers rather than trade for him - would we still have the first shot to claim him from our record last year?

Sounds like there is a bidding war for a DFA'd guy, sheesh. I'd take him if he's near free I suppose, but this bullpen's biggest issue is not being able to strike guys out when there's runners on base, Dyson doesn't do that, he's a Kintzler clone who uses his sinker near exclusively.

He's a guy who is worth taking a gamble on if the prospect cost is virtually nothing. I can't see giving up a real prospect to acquire a guy who has been terrible in both results and peripheral numbers. While $3.5M isn't a huge amount it is still enough to be annoying if the Twins end up eating his salary (he would be the Twins highest paid reliever after Perkins).

The Rangers just signed Ernesto Frieri - I would rather take a flier on him for nothing.   He at least pitched OK this year in the minors.

I'm never trading anyone with any mlb ceiling for a reliever. They are just too unpredictable and flame out quickly.

If we can get him for an Eades or Levi Michael or Travis Harrison or something, then sure, I can live with that.

But I wouldn't trade even a Granite for him, and I don't even think Granite can be a mlb'er.

Dyson traded to the Giants. I hate to miss out on a reliever with potential, but I was a little scared of the Twins trying to fix him while on the major league roster.

Not surprised he was traded to NL. The return was not going to be significant. No reason to help a team they might be fighting with for a wild card spot.

What would have been the difference trying to fix him in the minors when the Twins are kind of doing the same with Rule 5 pick Justin Haley. Granted Haley is not broken, he is just not ready to actually be in the majors.

They don't seem to be willing to give to give up on Haley, so that would be two guys trying to figure it out a the MLB level.
