DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Worst manager in baseball. Fire Molitor!
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Why is the home plate umpire playing for the tie? Now we are thinking alike
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 It's too bad; Santiago clearly wasn't sufficiently warmed up. Everybody is exhausted, and TB's hitters are all swinging from the heels.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I see what you are saying, but no. Bunting is free outs for the other team. I'd bunt every time in that situation. Advances the runner and keeps you out of the double play.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 The Rays don't have much left in the bullpen and Mauer will be leading off.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Breath. Breath. I had no expectations for this team going into the season. I'm getting to wound up. This team has done far better than I dreamed they would, so, I need to take a deep breath. (still irritating to see the Twins throw away a winnable game, but, hey, it's baseball)They've built a respectable lead in the division about 1/4 through the season. No one had high expectations, but you can't pi** away games like this. I want to see us in the postseason whether we belong or not. Luckily we haven't had too many of these types this year. We'll see how they react to playing the best team in baseball. There should be all kinds of fines coming for the horrendous situational hitting the last few weeks, especially today.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I think this team is psychologically ruined with target field. What Evs.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I think this team is psychologically ruined with target field. What Evs.Must have stage fright in front of small crowds

In a normal situation that's fine because your playing for either one or two, but if your next pitcher out is a starter you need to be playing for zero or two.

glunn Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 If the Twins pull this out it will be their greatest victory of the season.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I see what you are saying, but no. Bunting is free outs for the other team. Maybe so...but I'd rather have 2nd and 3rd with 1 out than Rosario hit into a DP and have 2 out with a runner on 3rd.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Wonder who pitches for the Rays now.

Mike, You are playing for two. THere were two runners on. They both moved into scoring position.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Kennys 0-8. I'd hit the bar after that day on the job
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Mauer on base 7 times, Vargas 0-8 8 LOb, can't wait to hear people telling me we need to bench Mauer in favor of Vargas
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Maybe so...but I'd rather have 2nd and 3rd with 1 out than Rosario hit into a DP and have 2 out with a runner on 3rd. Had Rosario hit into a DP and then everything following happened the same we would have still scored one run. There was a really good chance Rosario wasn't gonna hit into a double play.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I wouldn't be shocked if Vargas was optioned to bring up a pitcher. Maybe Gibson too. Tepesch or maybe Wheeler to make his next start. Figure at least two pitchers will come up though.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Mike, You are playing for two. THere were two runners on. They both moved into scoring position. They decreased the chances of scoring two which is fine if one doesn't result in your starting pitcher Wednsday pitching. This isn't the 11th inning this was a game that needed to end hopefully with a win but if not oh well.

There was a really good chance Rosario wasn't gonna hit into a double play. I'll still take 2 guys in scoring position with 1 out in a walkoff inning. Good teams get BOTH guys home. Even below-average teams get 1 of them in to tie.
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 So many chances to win this game... this is how a season gets derailed
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 And you can take all of that analytics crap and throw it in the trash somewhere.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Not quite as bad as the extra inning loss to Washington, but every bit as annoying. Mollys big mistake was not having someone ready as kintzler's pitch count was ballooning.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I'm not going to blame this on Santiago. Tough luck loss.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I bet Vargas had 10 swings and misses today. His AB's against Odorizzi were particularly pathetic. Unacceptable from a DH. Grossman >>>>>>>>>> Vargas.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
