Blake Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I think Kepler's just getting a day off. He has played in every game and is a close 3rd on our team with 73 plate appearances. 3 behind Dozier and 2 behind Sano.Thank you, sir.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Kepler didn't start on April 11th against LHP Matt Boyd. He pinch hit for Buxton. 2 non starts in 18 games works out to about 15 or 16 in a season. I guess that's about right.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 Really not a fan of platooning a 22/3 year old, in his first full season, on a losing team. Really not a fan. How many games has he sat? Tonight will be sit #1
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 Things are going to get a little more complicated now that Vargas is up. At least they better get complicated because we have nobody that is producing at the "I can't afford to sit this guy... not even once"... level. If Vargas is going to get AB's... Mauer or Grossman will have to sit or move to a differnent position to make room. Mauer won't move to another position and he isn't going to sit extensively. Grossman has been one of our better hitters this year so he shouldn't sit extensively and he can play some OF. So moving Grossman to the OF on occasion will allow Grossman, Buxton, Kepler and Rosario to sit a little bit and give Vargas some AB's to Crush a couple. Kepler taking an occasional day off won't kill him. I'm not sure if this is how Molitor would do it... but it's how I would do it. Bark's Lounge and Blake 2

It's such a big rotation involving a lot of players. I don't see it being a problem. Riverbrian and Mike Sixel 2
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I feel that Vargas should be playing 1B and Escobar should be DH.Polance should be hitting second in the order. Mauer doesn't hit LH pitching well anymore. If you want him to be at his best he should usually sit against LH pitching. That's called 'helping your players succeed'. bird 1

I crank up Three Dog Night and I Crank Up Rage Against the Machine. If the artist is sincerly putting themselves into it... they will have my respect. Same thing goes for the guy put together the worlds largest ball of twine. He built that thing to be seen and Musicians build their thing to be heard and I will see it and I will hear it and respect it. As long as it isn't over commercialized syrup I'm on board. Bruce Springsteen is one of the top songwriters we have ever produced. You got Dylan and You got Springsteen at the very top of the pile. The only problem I have with Bruce is that is band is too big. Way too many noises to work in. As many as 3 Keyboardists... as many as 3 guitarists... Saxophone... and Bruce likes them all to show up on his records so you get this wall of sound that can be overwhelming. Springsteen is at his best when his songs are stripped down. Thunder Road is an amazing song but it really grabs you when you hear Bruce singing it by himself at a piano. Dancing in the Dark is a great song but the production can be a little off-putting but if you listen to an acoustic version of Dancing in the Dark... Wow. Bruce is a treasure and if he doesn't grab you... You should give him another try and listen to his acoustic work. Blake, Mike Sixel and Bark's Lounge 3
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Alright, lets try this again. Twins 7, Rangers 5. Vargas hits a 3 run bomb.

Mauer, Grossman, Vargas, Rosario, Buxton and Kepler are 6 guys for 5 positions (DH,1B, LF, CF, RF) If they equally rotated over 162... They would each play 135. Now if you factor in injuries... The Healthy ones would play even more games. That type of playing time won't kill anyone's development and it gives all 6 players a chance to prove themselves so you can actually see for yourself if they are worth it. Now I wouldn't just rotate them equally like that... I was just using it as an example... I would still reward the performers. If a player is hitting like Grossman... he would play more and if he was hitting like Mauer... he would play less. That's how I would do it but they haven't offered me a job. Oldgoat_MN and Blake 2

drock2190 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 The easy answer is any park where Hughes is pitching is considered a hitters park. Lefthanded hitters have it a little easier. Any guesses on how far Gallo will hit one tonight? Hopefully we keep up but Perez usually pitches better at home than on the road. Pretty excited that I got Gallo going tonight in fantasy! If only Gibson pitched this series too lol Riverbrian 1
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Sano should have just accepted his one game suspension.

My music repertoire runs the gamut from Big Band (the duet of Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby of "Gone Fishin" is incredible. Crosby's voice is so incredibly smooth), Connie Evingson of Moore by Four, to Grand Funk to Stone Temple Pilots, Bill Withers to Ozzie, Metallica with a little Linda Ronstadt Big Band tossed in. I'm not locked into any particular genre and it's kind of fun to hit "shuffle" and go from Big Band to Metal and then to Contemporary Christian. bird and Riverbrian 2

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 The only players that I would have a hard time sitting right now are: Rosario, Grossman and Sano because they hitting pretty well at this moment and I believe in HOT.

If my memory serves me correctly, he knocked off Michael Jackson's "Thriller" as the top song on Solid Gold or something like that. I was pissed off, what 9 year old at that time wouldn't have been... Michael Jackson was God. I thought Dancing in the Dark and Born in the USA were the cheesiest songs ever made at that time. Maybe a year or two later I heard "I'm on Fire", I really digged that song, still do. My favorite song of his is "Streets of Philadelphia". Once in a while it might bring a tear to my eye. Those are pretty bare bones songs and I probably should take a closer look at his acoustic work and I will. Whether you like or dislike his music, the guy is a rock legend and his contributions to music are about as good as it can get. I respect what he stands for, because for half of my life, he stood up for people like me and continues to do so. The Boss is an institution. Riverbrian 1

No. Escobar should not under any circumstances be starting the game as the designated hitter. That would be like having Jason Tyner DH. Oh wait... If Escobar is starting he needs to play a position. If for no other reason than he is the back up to at least 3 positions.
