For Molitor's next magic trick, Hughes shall complete 5 innings tomorrow night. :)

Only 5?  Oh, ye of little faith...

Something seems to be missing...

Winnah!

Now i am off to eat...

Thanks for the good company and all!

Did Chief miss his line again?  Hopefully we can get him some more practice.

There's something about the 7th inning with this team... I'll take it!

In before the "7th Heaven" headlines and wordplay...

I'm starting to suspect the Royals will be in full firesale mode come July. All those expiring contracts need to net them something at the deadline.

Late to respond, but, I have to wonder if there really is that much value, other than Cain, on the KC roster? The roster seems to be constructed around every player have skill sets that work well within the way the KC roster is put together. I just don't know if those players outside of the KC system will really thrive.

Duffy could return a mint, I think. I'm guessing 3 top 100 prospects, with one in the top 20 range, if available. Signed for cheap, and very good.

Other than that, gonna be a long road back. They should have started selling last year, imo.

Mike, I believe Duffy is signed through 2021 (age 32) at appr. $15M per year. Not exorbitant, but high enough to eliminate great offers, especially for someone with only half a year of excellence. Perez, Gordon and Kennedy are also going to be tough contracts for that market. It's great for their fans they got their title, because it's going to be a few years of lean.

Is it possible KC has signed the staff they need to compete and it's a matter of a couple of bullpen arms? Or are a they also going to lose too many key position players?

We'll just disagree on that. I think Duffy can return 3 top prospects. $15MM will look like chump change in 2-3 years for FAs.

I do agree, I'd take the title and the fun, and have to suffer some lows.

They only have 1-2 good position players.....I'm not sure losing most of these guys matters now. Like I said, should have blown it up during last year and this off season.

one of 7 mlb teams currently undefeated.

Which is better than being winless, but remember the Vikings were the last NFL team to lose a game, and, well...

Thank you Twins for the awesome birthday gift with the clean sweep! Great way to start of the season-Great Defense, Great Plate Discipline, Clutch Hitting, and some power. Everything missing to start last year off. Hope to see it continue! Had fun with you all! Twins Win Twins Win!

It's your birthday? Well, I'm not sure about this, you'll have to double check, but I think it might be Bert Blyleven's birthday today. Did that get mentioned once or twice or 100 times today?

Duffy, Perez, Gordon, Kennedy and Soler may be their core for next year. Herrera will be expensive for a reliever, in his last year of arbitration. With the exception of Soler, all may be expensive, and Perez, Kennedy and Gordon may become big overpays. Their bullpen looks awful. There's not much in their minors, pending possible returns for Hosmer, Moustakas and Cain, none of whom will bring back anything like the Adam Eaton or Chris Sale package. It's looking grim for KC.

Fine for you to disagree. White Sox are having a hard time getting three top prospects for Quintana, who's a better pitcher than Duffy, younger, and has a much better contract. Time will tell.

Are they? Or are they holding out in case their young players develop quickly, and Quintana can be part of their next core? I have no idea, but at least the Sox appear to have a good farm system. KC? not so much. Their present and near term future look bleak.

Good lord, Dick with the first over reaction of the year

I didn't see either of the first two games on TV but he can't have waited until the third game.

I can stand in my yard and flap my arms all day, but it doesn't make me a bird.

Likewise, DanSan's ability to flail his limbs wildly at batted balls in a variety of positions around the field make him a valuable defensive asset.

I'm quite confident in the accuracy of your first sentence. But just for fun, will you do it anyway?

I just don't see a return for Hosmer and Moustakis. And I cannot believe KC spent that much on Gordon, considering his age and how much time he spends on the DL.

I just looked up Cain and he will soon be 31. I think if there is any kind of return for Cain, KC needs to go for it.

dansan and buxton in an exciting battle for the position of designated punto!

People forget that Punto had a career BA of .245 and a WAR of 15.3. Comparing him with DanSan is an insult. He could actually catch the ball too.

Last year? There is no way a team coming off a WS championship, with most of its roster intact, is blowing up anything. That is not realistic.
