Well I doubt it's Deduno. And not just because of the last start. Most likely Devries or Walters, maybe both, or maybe neither? Morneau has a shot at comeback player of the year too. Willingham may flirt with 40, but I'd be surprised if he reached it.

We'd need to go 29-23 the rest of the way to get to 78 wins.

It's a fairly soft schedule, lots of KC, Cleveland and Seattle, so while it's not something I'd put money on, I'd say it's well within the realm of possibility.

Yeah, although Walters may yet get there. And maybe Tyler Robertson will stick in the pen for next year.

He has seemed kind of shaky (Robertson), so I wouldn't count on it. I would rather have one of Slama/Waldrop/Guerra take over for him (even though none of them are lefties).

IDK Seth I think one of those pitchers could be solid for us next season, doubt it Deduno cuz of his control but P.J was pitching well until his injury and I think his stuff is better then Cole's for the long run.

Did you see his splits posted tonight? As his recent minor league numbers indicated, .385 OBA v RH/.213 OBA v LH. If they have room next year for a 3rd lefty after Perk and Dunce, he could develop into a very good LOOGY, but beyond that.....?

But that's just the role that will need to be filled if Perk becomes the regular closer. I suppose we could hunt down the Big Sweat again, but Robertson's already here.

And if they end the Dunce-as-starter experiment.

No season is complete without an insane prediction thread from Dave.

I don't know about 78 wins but 75 is definitely achievable.

Rocketpig!?!? What happened? It's like I don't even know you anymore :(:banghead::cry:

Also my best work was when I predicted the Twins would win the division down 3 games with 4 to play.

1. Not gonna happen

2. Maybe, I guess.

3. I'd give it to Dunn personally

4. Mauer maybe, Revere will fade

5. Sure

6. No chance in hell.

I like it! I'll add

Plouffe finishes with a .275 avg, with 25hr, and 50 rbi, Duensing finishes well as a starter becomes a decent number 4 starter for next year.

You know, it's really to bad the Twins played so terribly the past 6-7 games against the white sox. If they would have won a few of those games we could be looking at a potential miracle run into the playoffs.

Dunn will be the comeback player of the year. Awhile ago I went way out on a limb and said the Twins would win 80 games. That was before these last 12-15 games or so. That isn't as stupid a prediction now as it was back then.

DeVries or Walters might make for long relief out of the bullpen, but I think all three of them might start behind Gibson in the Rochester rotation next year to provide depth for when Nick Blackburn actually starts rolling out a 10.00+ ERA next year.

I agree with those that say Dunn will win comeback player of the year, but in my opinion the award should go to someone who came back from something like injury. What is Dunn coming back from? Having one of the worst offensive seasons in recent history?

1. 78 would be great, but I'm shooting for at least 69 (I have a $100 bet on the Twins winning at least 69 games with my buddy... a White Sox fan).

2. I can see it happening. He's not really slowing down too much, so 40 is not out of the question.

3. ** See full Answer Below**

4. 100% agree

5. That's only 30 points higher than what he's at, and with his current hot streak, I see no reason to dispute this prediction.

6. I really think DeVries is the guy to do this. He's already been pitching well, and I really think that he's taking ques from Diamond about mixing speed and location, and he's getting decent results from that.

**I don't believe Mauer is getting comeback player of the year. Even though he only played 82 games, he still had a slash line .289/.360/.368. Definitely his worst year, but that would be a career year for some.

I know DJP threw out Dunn's name for comeback player, but his average is still way down at .201. He's hitting bombs for sure, but I don't see it for him either.

If Mornie keeps up his current pace, he might get it. If he hits 25 HRs, and continues to hit left handed pitching. I think it would be proof that he's past his injuries. That might just win him that comeback player of the year award.

One player that might give Mornie a run for his money is Alex Rios:

Rios:

2011: .227/.265/.348 with 22 2B, 2 3B and 13 HRs

2012: .318/.349/.544 with 27 2B, 6 3B and 18 HRs.

For comparision, here is Morneau's:

2011: .227/.285/.333 with 16 2B, 0 3B and 4 HRs

2012: .274/.333/.467 with 22 2B, 1 3B and 15 HRs.

I'm not sure the Twins should be "counting" on any of these starters for next year. Some have earned spots (like Diamond) and should be merriting consideration (like Walters/Deduno), but that's a far cry from counting on them...

Wow dude. Just wow.

P.J was pitching well until his injury and I think his stuff is better then Cole's for the long run.

Actually Cole De Vries' fastball is faster than Walters' and his secondary stuff esp. the slider is better than Walters'. And sad but true: De Vries leads the current Twins' starters in k/9.
