  1. Jeter, Utley, McGwire, Tony Gwynn.
  2. You really don't get this do you? You understand that being outscored by your opponents is bad, being outscored by your opponents over 140 games is very bad. If you are somehow winning or contending for a division with that bad a run differential...that means your team is very very lucky. It's not about career years or whatever garbage you're spewing.
  3. That makes literally no sense. Then you're literally a moron. What the hell is going on here. I don't care if the O's win the World Series or history repeating it'self. This is a simple thing...the O's are contending with luck. They're a better team then a year ago, but in way should a team that's been outscored by 20 runs being contending for a division. If they win it all, good for them, but they're gonna do it on the heels on one of the luckiest teams ever.
  4. I'll take Florimon's defense or Dozier's whatever the hell he offers. I don't think he's ever gonna hit like he showed in the minors and I don't think his defense will ever carry him enough.
  5. So you're saying that basically every team will No, not at all. There's a certain amount of luck that goes into every sport, a fluke play winning a big game etc. Being outscored by 20+ runs and somehow being tied with a team that's outscored its opponents by 92 runs. Well that's the very definition of blind-ass luck
  6. What in the hell are you talking about? Bringing up a few random seasons from the past have no bearing on what's gonna happen in 2013. We don't know what the rosters will look like, the strength of the division, injuries, trades, signings...hell everything. I even said it could happen, but I think it has little to no chance of happening. Who's being negative? If he never would have mentioned the word contend, I would have no problem with the article. If he just would have made an article that said "here's how the O's improved there pitching staff" I wouldn't have said a thing.
  7. Neither of us know what's gonna happen with either teams roster. Maybe Mike Ilitch loses his mind again and signs everyone, who knows what to expect outta the Sox and Kenny WIlliams. The point is I don't see how bringing up 2003, 2009 seasons or current stats has to do with this. Do I think it's impossible...no, but do I see it happen...**** no!!
  8. I've wanted him gone for years...good a time as any to take him out back and Old Yeller the SOB.
  9. Well they've done it multiple times before so, basically, you're wrong. In 2009, the Twins won the AL Central with a 4.50 ERA that ranked 11th in the AL. In 2008, they came one game short of winning the division with a 4.16 ERA that ranked 7th in the AL. In 2003, they won the division handily with a 4.41 ERA that ranked 7th in the AL. Three average (or worse) pitching staffs, three contending teams. And that's just in the last ten years. There are plenty of examples outside of the Twins, too. Well that's fantastic Nick, what the hell does that have to do with a 2013 season that none of us know about yet? What's the Tigers & Sox rosters gonna look like. Who's injuries will play huge factor into the division, can Willingham, Mauer, Morneau, Span and others stay healthy? Who and where are these league average pitchers coming from? That's great that it happened in 2009 and 2003...but what the **** does that have to do with the 2013 season?
  10. 1. Yes I would have let the Dodgers have him for nothing. 2. They very well might have to overpay to get some decent arms in here. Bad teams more often then not have to overpay to get talent. 3. I said it's pretty clear that the Twins think they can get some value outta Morneau. I disagree, but if that's the plan you're going with, dont' let teams get the upperhand on you.
  11. No I don't think the Twins would contend for the division with a league average pitching staff.
  12. What the hell do the Pirates have to do with this? Morneau isn't part of the future, he won't be here whenever they contend again. So you ditch that salary so you can play the cheap MLB ready 1B you have. What the hell is so hard to understand about this? I mentioned Greinke and Jackson cause they're arms that could make an impact. Even if the Twins were to sign them both I don't think they sniff 80 wins, I just used the two top arms that will be on the market...my god man.
  13. And if you read my posts you'll see that I said the O's are better then they were a year ago. They made some good moves that made them a better team. But you devoted the first chunk of your article to the O's contending and being in the think of the AL East race, but if they were 68-73 (as they should be) you don't write this article. If you wouldn't have mentioned contending and quick turn arounds then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  14. And bad teams get better by sheding expensive players when they have a MLB ready kid in the farm system who makes nothing ready to roll. None of us know what JR's strategy is, but it doesn't matter what he wants...the Twins won't compete for atleast a few years. The bottom line is the Twins are one of the worst teams in the league and JR ain't going out to sign Greinke &Jackson to get this team right. Sit back and actually look at this team, cause it's a very very bad baseball team. As for injuries, I know you're not trying to compare Parm's injury history to Morneau.
  15. Then please explain it to me where I'm suppose to be jazzed that Liam Hendriks and BJ ****ing Hermsen are winners of this award. That alone should just make everyone on this board depressed as hell about the future of this club.
  16. The Twins aren't gonna contend for quite a few years. Morneau is a 31 year old 1B with the injury history of a world war 2 veteran. He's expensive, he's injury-prone and he's not getting any younger. Morneau isn't part of the future for this team, but Parmelee potentially is. You dump Morneau, you get the arms in here that won't make you a laughing stock around the league and you hope to dig yourself outta being one of the worst teams in the league. Bad teams get rid of expensive players, it's what you do. Especially when you have a MLB ready 1B waiting in the wings who makes 400K a season.
  17. They have a chance based off nothing more then blind ass backwards luck. Would Nick have written this same article if the O's were 68-73 as there pythagorean says they should be...ofcourse not. He wrote cause the O's went from one of the worst teams in the league to contending. The only problem is they're contending off nothing but luck. "Be like the O's" how the hell is a team suppose like a team that's winning based off nothing but luck? As for the Twins failures in the postseason, ask anyone on BYTO how I felt about those losses.
  18. I wouldn't have cared if the Twins dropped Morneau off at the trash burner next to TF, whatever gets rid of his salary. But at this point it's pretty clear the Twins think they can actually get some value outta the dumb Canuck. So if that's the case then you don't wanna give another team a heads up in working out a trade. As for winning games next season...I think we all realize that's a pipedream at best. This is a bad bad bad team, there's little to no help that's gonna contribute from the minors and the front office is gonna cut payroll more. Do they need to cut payroll, ofcourse not. But this is the ****ing Pohalds were talking about here, it's like people forgot how cheap they were cause they raped the city and state for a new stadium.
  19. You don't wanna sign these arms and then teams know you're up against the wall when trying to move Morneau or Willingham. You never want to give a team an edge in that sense.
  20. The funds should be there to get some arms regardless. Signing them is another matter. It's hard enough to get one decent free agent starter, you can't assume that dumping Morneau means you get more. True, but it gives the Twins the funds and ability to overpay (which they might have to) to get those arms. NTM Parmelee isn't an OF, he should be at 1B.
  21. What in the helll does that have to do with what I just said? Nick laid out this post that the O's have given bad teams hope for a quick turnaround and that's not true. The O's are winning games with pixie dust and a horseshoe up Showalter's ass. Hell the ****ing Red Sox have a better run differential then the mighty O's. If the O's win the World Series this season, well god bless em and good for them. But what the O's have going right now isn't a formula for succees over the longterm, it's nothing but smoke and mirrors.
  22. I would have let the Dodgers have him for nothing if they really wanted him. Let Parmelee play 1B and use the funds to get some arms. I was hoping someone was gonna hit him good in the head and make him dizzy again after that walkoff.
  23. The O's are where they are cause of blind luck. Are they a better team now then they were a year ago...yes. But to make it seem like the O's have build some type of blueprint for succees is just wrong. They have a horseshoe up their ass that has little to no chance of continuing into 2013 and beyond.
  24. HELL NO!!! Love what the guy has done, but who the hell extends players in there 30's coming off career years?
  25. Cause Gardy likes Capps...this franchise has been making moves for years based off who Gardy likes and who Gardy doesn't like.
