I agree they would get some prospects but no real mlb players that could help them now, relievers/closers, even those of Perkins value likely won't net a starting SS/OF or starter as a previous poster suggested. He's basically costing you nothing. If he was making $12 mil per hr then yes consider trading him but he's making half that and will still have as much value a yr or two from no. Yes there is risk of injury but even then his salary risk is minimal.
We'll never know if an offer was made, I'm guessing TR made some sort of run at BA but Ol Billy boy thought the Rockies had the best offer...oh well we move on.
I could live with that...carry a vet in Rochester to call on if need be and hope Pinto gets better defensively fast. I'm fine with signing a cheap vet for defense while Pinto gets some time in Rochester.
Refresh my memory but isn't Hughes hurt alot??? Why do I remember that, maybe I'm thinking of someone else. I do know he's inconsistent but I'd take him for 1 or 2 yr cash friendly deal.
You guys have to get off the payroll aspect...ask the Dodgers, Angels, Blue Jays how it's working out for them..the Marlins last yr. it means little. The Twins are rebuilding, no need to spend, it's become a boring and somewhat useless debate.
At this point I'd be suprised if Justin is not dealt by the deadline..They likely won't get much but holding onto him makes little sense as most of us expect the fade to happen here sooner or later despite them being better. The Yanks with Tex on the shelf again seem to be the best fit and Morneau fits in perfectly in Skankee Stadium, the short porch may boost his power numbers. I too would not mind a 2 yr contract in the $14 mil TOTAL range come this winter but until then it would be wise to get what they can for the former MVP...
