Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 The woman is supposedly the best historian there is and the African American guy is the tech guy who helped build the machine so he knows how to work it. I think the ppoint is....those two aren't in groups that were allowed to do much in the past....
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Lol, I didn't even really think about it although the issue did arise in that first episode. But as jimmer said there were reasons why it was them. The African American guy even said he didn't think he should go because history wasn't very good to people like him. Then the people in charge told him that he knew why it was him who had to go. Mike Sixel 1
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) I think the ppoint is....those two aren't in groups that were allowed to do much in the past....I understand that and I'm sure the writers of the show are counting on that reality to make things even more difficult for the 'heroes' to do what they need to do. Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Bingeing Galavant from start to finish. There aren't many comedies that I find actually funny, but this is one of them.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I'm still waiting for 'Life in Pieces' to start their new season. It's the best comedy I've seen in a while.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Frequency is just a series based on the premise of a movie from a late-90s/early-2000s movie that starred Jim Caviezel (sp?), the man who would later portray Jesus in Passion of the Christ. I rather lost interest quickly just because I knew the premise of the show already.

However, I can't base my like or dislike on the success or lack of it of the movie which I haven't seen and likely won't. One of the best TV series of all time ... okay, IMO ... was, at best, a so-so movie: Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. So, you never know. Craig Arko 1

It was a movie I really enjoyed due to the baseball tie in to the movie, so that's why I watched it more than once...otherwise, I'd not likely have even remembered it! LOL!! Squirrel 1

jimmer Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 So far, Westworld has been a disappointment for me. Going to give it one more shot with tonight's episode.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I have really liked Westworld, reminds me of the first few episodes of Game of Thrones. I want to see the mystery unravel and then judge it. It could certainly go south though.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I like Westworld, but it's having trouble getting real traction with me. It feels a bit too much like Lost, in that the show is excellent at framing a deep and paramount mystery, but the reveal never lives up to the showmanship. TheLeviathan 1

I hope Westworld is different. PseudoSABR 1

That's my fear, the intrigue will hook me but the pay-off will disappoint me. Still, I'm intrigued enough with the existential questions and mystery of it to give the season a shot. PseudoSABR 1
joethastud Provisional Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 People still watch primetime network tv? Kevin James? Lethal Weapon? Keifer Sutherland?..... Cripes. Seven pages and one mention of Atlanta? One mention of You're The Worst too? The Get Down..... No one mentions South Park at all? Seriously? If you haven't been watching South Park, the last season and a half have been insanely clever and extremely entertaining. Trey Parker is a visionary. glunn 1
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Well, I have never watched SP....but 19 year old pretty much has that on whenever sports are not, apparently (he mentioned it last time we saw him from college). Can I be cool by proxy?

Can I be cool by proxy? In all honesty, if you enjoy pop culture, current events, or political banter, you should be watching it no matter what the age. My 60 year old parents started watching it this last year after reading on HuffPost that the creators of South Park had an extreme disdain for Donald Trump. They love it. Or errrr, at least they say they do? Mike Sixel 1

joethastud Provisional Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Hey, I mentioned both You're the Worst and The Get Down.Because my taste is impeccable. Netflix man..... Their movie selection sucks, but their original tv content has been money. In The Get Down's case, 10 mil an episode...... It better be good. Thats Thrones money! They're on a roll. Stranger Things was a pretty big deal in that it was a viral tv show that every age group could watch. Speaking of Netflix movies, anyone catch Mascots yet? Also, for my money, Mr. Robot got to near Breaking Bad status for me this year. I think the consensus on the season 2 was: the first couple episodes were fairly bad and had too many M. Night plot twists, but if you trudged through the first couple eps, it became an intense roller coaster that I can only really compare to BB. I dunno. I like that USA Network is giving the creator tons of freedom with the show, but ultimately, Robot would play much better if you could binge straight through too.
joethastud Provisional Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Also, You're The Worst.... Its been on for 3 seasons now and I know no one who watches it beside me and my girlfriend, but every critic seems to love it? Samesies for Halt & Catch Fire.

It is, IMO, a very good show. Good chemistry between the two leads, it's just fun to watch. I also love the Blacklist. For the most part, though, the four main Networks shows are slowly dying. They have to step up their game if they have any chance to survive with scripted programming. There isn't one comedy worth watching on any of those any more, and very few dramas. P.S. There's nothing wrong with Keifer Sutherland's acting. Edited October 21, 2016 by jimmer Vanimal46 1

He's not quite as good as David Caruso, but yeah, he's okay.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 (edited) The Get Down.....Good show, I watched it when it came out on netflix and proceeded to forget about it quickly. Solid cast, incredible atmosphere, pretty good story telling. Perhaps it just had too few episodes for it really to adhere to me... Edited October 21, 2016 by PseudoSABR
