Weather: hot and greasy, with some wind blowing out to left center.

Not likely, just think of all the tickets they'd need to refund if he was sent down before his big day? Could cost the team hundreds of dollars!

The ball was hit into the outfield, and an outfielder threw the ball to another player who was standing on/near a base.

 

Just an assumption though, I too am not able to watch.
