Venus is older and bigger than Serena, who has more Grand Slam titles.

I was just coming back to correct your ignorance and saw that you were in the process of correcting mine. :)

Are you going by my avatar?

That, and your neighbors' curiosity about your propensity for digging in their yards.    They spoke highly of you nonetheless.

...and there truly are rings around Uranus.

I'd even settle for bunting.

The ointment is helping.   Thanks for the advice.

Heh.   You thought I'd say 'thanks for the tip', but it's not my first game thread, bucko.

I haven't watched tennis for years, but ChiTown can't stop talking about it so I finally decided to check it out. I know nothing about Serena and Venus. Somebody help me out. Are they sisters? Which one's older?

Forgive me for my ignorance ... I'm trying to correct that.

Yes, they are sisters.  Venus is older.  Serena is better.  Both are among the all-time best.  Serena is almost certainly in the top 4 (with Navratilova, Graf, and King.)  She might be #1 on that list.

Though, with allusions like that, it might always be your last, big guy.

And Dozier walks out looking.

Wait. That doesn't sound right.

Dozier called out on balls.

Wait ... that sounds off too.

Somebody help!

I know you are all awaiting the update and outcome of the Venus-Serena match ... Serena wins in 3 sets. The road to a calendar slam continues.

Not to bring the discussion back to baseball or anything, but I watched Hicks's AB from the left side, for the first time in quite a while it turns out. I was impressed with what seems to be his new ability to recognize the breaking pitch in the dirt, far enough in advance to not get himself out. Didn't get a hit, but it's still a difference like night and day, compared to when he was going really badly. He gives himself a chance.

I've switched to light beer.

Yup.   He's been a mirror image of Hunter on that pitch until recently, but his recognition skills seem much improved.    That's key from the left side, because he's never going to have the raw hand/eye from that side to get by without it.

After giving up 4 runs and no outs, Gibson goes the next 8 innings without any runs.

As expected.

That would have been a cruel joke a year ago.

Pelfrey gets the kiss of death from Bremer.    He has "good karma" pitching in KC.    Let's hope he's breathing through his eyelids too.
