If I were to pick the matchup of the rumored potential ones that I wanted to see most, this was the one. Now they need to go show out.

Best possible match up IMO. Auburn is talented, but overrated, beat good teams, but got lucky. Beat them, and gain clout in recruiting against the SEC. In order to take the next step, gophers need to pull in more talent from the south.

Minnesota beat one good team, and Auburn is over rated? I think Minnesota will be fortunate to win this game. They are still not as deeply talented as the top teams. Hopefully, this year's success helps change that.

Didn't watch their games. In what regard were they lucky?

They got a FG return for touchdown and a 99 yard int for touchdown. They definitely got lucky. I'd pick Alabama big the next time they play.

I just read Auburn predicted by 11 over MN because they played a better schedule. I don't agree. Gophers best win was Penn State, but Auburn beat Oregon first game of the year and got lucky against Alabama. Nix is terrible.

I think/hope it will be a good game. I just don't buy the SEC hype.

Does anyone know how contracts work for the assistant coaches?

Is the bowl season technically in next year's contract period?

I'm confused on how our OC is able to leave on a lateral move before the Bowl game.

Hardly a ringing endorsement of MN's future.......

It's not the end of the world, but I'd worry the message is "good coaches will always leave here for bigger programs".....and if you are a blue chip recruit, do you want to take that risk? I have no idea.....but I'd think not.

Or perhaps there's a better path to a head coaching job going that route rather than staying. Lots of things to weigh in, not just job for job.

That also wouldn't be a ringing endorsement of the Gophers program.

Exactly. If the dude wants a head coaching job, go for it. He didn't though. Guess can't expect too much at this point, gophers have been relevant for about 2 months. Hopefully PJ can get a good replacement. It will take some sustained success before the gophers are a top detonation for coaches.

I don't think Ciarrocca has his sights on being a head coach. He doesn't seem too comfortable in front of the camera, but I think going back home for him was a big thing. His new contract had not kicked in yet so his buyout I believe was only $50k (would have been 250k in next year).

I don't care about the perception of this as much as I worry about the loss of offensive creativity. This was the first Gophers offense I can remember in a long time that was near the top of the conference and country in production. He used the RPO very well and with the exception of Wisconsin (Iowa game was bad defensive play calling in the first half and not finishing drives), the offense moved the ball up and down the field.

Also one of the offensive assistants, Patterson, was a play caller and Assistant coach before joining the Gophers staff. There is some speculation that Fleck brought him in, 2 years ago, because he was expecting Ciarrocca to leave.

Go Gophers!

That was a really fun game to watch. I thought Auburn was going to bury us and I didn't think we'd have any chance of scoring 30+ points. Really good win for the program. I'm not sure how the rest of the top 20 played out but it seems like the Gophers should finish the season in the top 15 and should push Wisconsin next year.

2019 was the most fun I had watching the Gophers. This class can look back in the future and know they were the ones who had the most successful season in 106 years. Who knows, maybe this is the start to a consistent contending team!

11 wins was well beyond any expectation I had for the team. Moving forward, the next item I want to see checked off the list is playing in the B1G Championship game.

Good luck to him! I think this will be the start of several high draft picks for the Gophers.

I can't find any NFL draft info on him. Anyone know what round he is supposed to go in?

Glad the Winfield JR declared. He had nothing to gain by coming back and his friends and roomates on the team are all graduating this spring anyway.

I would think Tyler Johnson will be the first Gopher drafted (round 2 maybe), followed by Winfield, then Coughlin and Martin.
