twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Made a road trip recently to San Antonio and had the King Kong Nacho's at Chacho's.... Everything is bigger in Texas http://s3.amazonaws.com/foodspotting-ec2/reviews/936946/thumb_600.jpg?1318113649Ugh, that looks like cheese sauce! Good nachos should at least use a variety of real cheese, and that plate looks decidedly lacking in jalepenos. Good god man, I expect more from Texas considering nachos are a Tex-Mex dish! Tell me you at least had a good beer?!!
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Margarita Mondays at La Cantina. Everything is the best with a couple of those in your system! Yum! A good margarita is about the only alcohol I indulge in these days.Sounds like Barrio in St. Paul is the place to go in this neck of the tundra.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Best margarita: 4 parts of your favorite tequila2 parts orange liqueur1 part lime juice You can add pomegranate juice, or cranberry juice. I have used homemade ginger simple syrup also. sometimes I add limeade from Trader Joes. The key is good ingredients.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 If push comes to shove; I'd go with homemade raclette and a glass of mead and never touch another nacho again.

Tell me you at least had a good beer?!! The camera didn't do it justice... It's a white cheese queso, and the jalapenos were hiding underneath the chicken. I had a few Pacifico's to go with that monstrous appetizer. Took 4 grown men to take that down.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Today is National Vanilla Cupcake day. Definitely a fan of that. More importantly, today is the U.S. Marine Corp's birthday. Established in 1775, 240 years of service from generations of soldiers. Thank you for continuing to keep us safe Marines!

I propose "National Sundae Century," and I pledge to do my part to ensure proper celebrations for the duration. Who's with me?

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 With a DQ just down the street from work, I'm there! There's one DQ that I know of in Austin within driving distance of my work. I was so disappointed that the dilly bars are no longer prepared at the stores... And the only flavors available were chocolate and cherry. What happened to butterscotch dilly bars?!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 DQ.....is that even actually ice CREAM?
