Plouffe to Paternity List, Polanco Recalled

Jorge Polanco is coming up to the Twins while Plouffe goes on the paternity list (source: a Derek Wetmore tweet).

 

Anyone surprised it wasn't Arcia? I thought he'd be coming up. 

 

Anyways, I assume Sano will try out 3B and hopefully we'll see Polanco at SS. I do want to see how good Polanco is defensively, but our lineup could really use his bat. When Plouffe comes back, it's probably goodbye to Polanco until September. It'd be nice if Polanco could stick at short at the cost of sending Santana to AAA, but for some reason I don't think this is gonna happen.

 

Any thoughts?

I would like to see polanco at short for the 2-3 games he might play. Probably see Escobar at third (although it would be ncie if Sano got rhythms there). I would send Santana out and bring up Arcia. Hey, the Twins are putting together a good line-up of major league players at Rochester!

I don't really understand this one. They have three (kind of) shortstops already and Polanco wasn't exactly forcing their hand. He's continued to play terrible defense and has an OPS of .660 at AAA.

I would have went Arcia too, but he's not exactly forcing their hand either. Or perhaps he is about to get traded.

If it isn't Sano at 3B and Polanco at SS, I will be confused. They clearly don't like Esobar or Nunez at SS, and Sano is the future at 3B, so I'm sure we'll see something totally not that.

Escobar is not an All-Star SS, but he is clearly the best on the roster and they never use him there.  This move is confusing.  I would have thought they would have gone Sano to third, Escobar stays at SS and Arcia comes up to DH.  But that would have made sense or something and clearly nothing about this season has made any sense from the team actually being competitive to the roster moves being made.

Escobar SHOULD be starting. But not the next few games. If Polanco is up, he needs to be in the field and in the lineup. At least for 2 of his probable 3 games.

why did Polanco not start today? Why is he on the roster, over and over, only to rarely play when he comes up?

 

If he's not going to play, call up some guy that will probably never make it, and let him be in the majors a couple days.
