ashbury Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (as Terry Ryan) #5 -- I was talking with Dave St. Peter last night. He was thinking that hot dog prices were probably low in comparison to other parks. I told him I didn't care. Nah, nah... #5 -- A Skeleton walks into Target Field and says... "I have a bone to pick about your bullpen".
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Duensing in his last 7 games, 9.1 IP and only 1 hit 7K, Great, so who do we package him with to get Lucroy?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Well, you can't have Glass and Cage without Schoenberg, can you?
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I'm doing laundry now. I'm not totally clear on how to separate. So I'm doing my nice clothes in one load... and my... I don't care what I look like clothes in the other. Good system. This eventually results in one load, after all.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Great, so who do we package him with to get Lucroy?I'm sure the Brewers will ask for at least one and probably two players that would be on my untouchable list so I highly doubt he'll be coming this way.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Well, you can't have Glass and Cage without Schoenberg, can you? On the topic of 20th century classical music, once I was part of a heated discussion (or rather I should say I was an unbiased observer/mediator) on whether Boléro is minimalistic. I can't even remember what the arguments on either side were, but I do remember that there was one person I strongly disagreed with. He was known for being obstinate and writing absolute walls (I think I might have picked up on that a bit, but at least I know that a 1,000 word post can have more than one paragraph). He said that while Boléro is not minimalistic, it's just plain stupid. How could anybody think that?! And it would have been more entertaining had he taken an umbrella (that's the masculine form of parasol, yes? no?) to his opponents. And by the way, I'm listening to the video you posted. I'd be ... um, interesting ... if I watched the whole thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I'm not interesting, so I'm just listening. I think I've heard it before, but I can't say conclusively because it's not in our CD library. I do like it; sadly, however, it is being accompanied by my computer's fan which decided to go on the fritz the other day and is whupping like a helicopter.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Anyone notice the Pirates vs. Cardinals the past couple of nights? Pirates may be a few games back, but they seem to have a bit of stick to it ive ness themselves.
Jerr Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Maybe its just me...BUT, I would like more game talk in the GAME THREAD...just saying and I DO concur with myself
Jerr Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 And by game talk, I mean the Twins game
formerly33 Verified Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Maybe its just me...BUT, I would like more game talk in the GAME THREAD...just saying and I DO concur with myself I don't know since I haven't been here long, but from what I've observed, game threads are a place where Twins fans can get together and have fun together. We're free to talk about our ups and downs, ideas and lack thereof, and we get support from everyone else ... at least those who want to offer it. For more relevant topics on the games, click on "Minnesota Twins Talk" and you'll find a thread started by SpiritofVodkaDave for virtually every game as of late (at least every game that's notably different than the previous few and therefore deserving of a new topic). In fact, I think that these threads are fast paced to being stickied or even granted a whole new section of their own so as to draw more attention. This is just a guess, but I'll go ahead and say it: Back in the day when Twins Daily was a fledgling website, game threads were intended to be more on topic and there was a whole forum called "The Sports Bar" that was meant for anything and everything off topic. However, as people like to take everything one degree beyond its original purport, the said "Sports Bar" became a place for both good- and bad-natured bickering. Game threads got off topic, and the other threads ... well, the mods are doing their best. Like I said, I'm just guessing on this. Don't quote me ... and you've been on here a lot longer than me so I'm sure you won't feel the need.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Game threads have always been a bit irreverent. The analogy we've always used is, it's like watching a game in the bleachers with a whole bunch of friends, except in this case mostly ones you've never met. Conversation drifts, you don't watch an entire game from the bleachers and only talk about the game. Hell, you don't even watch the whole game. Actually, I find that the game is mentioned much more frequently this year, that's true for me personally anyway. Obviously the success the team is having is placing more conversation on the actual game, the last 4 years haven't been much to talk about so in most cases the conversation was a distraction from the awfulness on the field. Never be shy to insert a comment about the game in a gave thread, if you want more conversation about the game, speak up, you'll find lots of people taking you up on it. Just expect a few sidebars in between from the guys sitting behind you.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 One water balloon, one, and that's all anyone ever wants to talk about.still sticking to the "it was just water" storyline I see.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 One water balloon, one, and that's all anyone ever wants to talk about. I'm intrigued about this water balloon... If circumstances arise such that i'm in a group, and no one will sit in front of them, i'll take one for the team... Won't let a little "alleged" water scare me none! But as the main event seems to be thus far unacknowledged, i don't presume to await Friday's game thread... Of course this is CRArko's thunder, but... Pluto's close up, interpreted by xkcd

And thunder is okay to be shared. Here's something else to consider: @BadAstronomer: It occurs to me: Pluto was above the horizon for most of the US when that signal washed over the Earth. It passed through many of us.
