jimmer Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Did they bring in May to get a strikeout?
70charger Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Oh good, a leadoff walk from the bullpen. There's no way this could possibly end badly. (sarcasm alert) Welp. There's that.

70charger Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Man, it's high time to get some fresh blood in the bullpen. Don't we have some guys in the high minors for exactly this kind of thing?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 Feeling a little bitter at the moment *grumble*
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Hopefully this will be a good learning experience for the Twins.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 looks like molitor is back to being a bad manager.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Dear Mr. Santana. Welcome to the Twins and, specifically, the Twins bullpen. Sincerely, Me.
Champuckett Provisional Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Great effort by a combo of Boyer and Thompson to quickly give KC the victory. Was there anyone that didn't see this coming as soon as Thompson started jogging in?
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Hopefully this will be a good learning experience for the Twins. The Twins have had plenty of chances in recent years to learn from losing. Not sure how much more there is to learn about that at this point.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I completely do not understand the reluctance to try to improve the bullpen. Why the *$**(#( is Rogers still starting in Rochester, instead of having been converted to a LH reliever long ago? Why the $%**($ the reluctance to move the best of the AA bullpen to AAA 6 weeks ago, hoping to have an answer or two by now? Why did it take until a couple weeks ago to try converting Meyer to a reliever? Why, with Pressly leaving last night's game with an injury, May not available, and a tired pen already, a crucial game coming up with the team you're trying to catch, was there not someone on a plane to KC last night. Y'know...just in case you're in a tight game and you really don't want to be dealing with an already weak pen made even weaker by not having it's normal compliment of releivers? Sheesh. //rant
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 Did they bring in May to get a strikeout?I heard Molitor say on his show this morning that they will be using May in long relief/ mop up duty. *grumble*
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 If only bullpens were important...that too
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I heard Molitor say on his show this morning that they will be using May in long relief/ mop up duty.*grumble*wouldn't that kind of take away some of the reasoning being used around here when saying moving May to the bullpen was a good idea?
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Wasn't Yost briefed he can't use his closer in tie games?
Blake Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Santana tried to avoid the bullpen by going 8. Figure starters go 8, Perkins for the close. Presto! No bullpen issues.
DJSim22 Provisional Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 This was the day to use Perkins in the 9th, games against the division leader are too important. KC had no problem using Holland.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Why not use fein? That was so predictable.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 With this sample size of one I am saying that we are watching the Twins best starter. Did i say that? Certainly won't disagree, especially with myself... A split series where we had leads and they walked off both wins isn't something to hang our heads about. Sorry i kinda tuned out for the latter half o' the game.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 wouldn't that kind of take away some of the reasoning being used around here when saying moving May to the bullpen was a good idea?YES
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Wasn't Yost briefed he can't use his closer in tie games? Many managers use their closer at home in that situation, but not on the road, including Yost. And Molitor.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 A split series where we had leads and they walked off both wins isn't something to hang our heads about. Can't you just let us grumble for a bit? *but you are absolutely right
Platoon Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I hope they don't regret pulling Sano later on...IF you are going to do that, wait till he gets to second!
Highabove Provisional Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 It makes sense for the Home team to bring in the Closer into a 9th inning tie game. Not the Visitors, Perkins would have had to come in to closeout a lead.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Many managers use their closer at home in that situation, but not on the road, including Yost. And Molitor.I didn't want them to put Perkins in either, unless it went a few more innings. You can't wear the guy out because everyone else is incompetent. At least we got another opportunity to see the same two guys not get the job done again. Maybe this will be the final nail in one of their coffins.
drock2190 Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 This was the day to use Perkins in the 9th, games against the division leader are too important. KC had no problem using Holland. Except Perkins just pitched. Twins likely wouldn't have scored next inning and Boyer and the bumbling idiots would have blown in the 10th then
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Twins likely wouldn't have scored next inning and Boyer and the bumbling idiots would have blown in the 10th thenKC had already used their two best relievers though, right? Don't we have a better chance of scoring in the 10th now that both of those guys are unavailable? And, again, there's a new guy in the pen who can strike people out. Also, not used.
