The Twins are a road. That explains everything. How can you be Twins if you have two lanes that go opposite directions? Get them going together! We need hitting+pitching, not just one or the other!

Your 2015 Minnesota Twins.

This is an accurate statement. This is not your 1927 Yankees. This is a team that will finish at around .500 if its players do as well as can reasonably be expected. And that's better than almost everyone expected when the season began. So don't worry. Be happy!

Indeed. They have holes. This has been apparent all year.

Rumor has it, according to a reliable yet unnamed source via TMZ, that the shark is now refusing to come out of his lagoon to play without a reworked contract.

A little Birdy says Anaheim is offering the shark 5 years/90 million while the Twins are only offering 3/45. Looks like he'll walk, er swim, away

I'm OK with him leaving at this point. There are plenty of fish left in the sea, and we have one of the deepest talent pools available. Let Anaheim be on the hook for a contract like that. For that amount of clams....swim away Twins. Just swim away.

The migratory practices of this particular shark suggest he will swim back here again in 7 years anyway.

Yup.    No use Carping about it.    And if they can't Land a Bass from the Lake, there's always the Trout Pond.

Well, that's it for me.    Time out for an internal Battle with the Grillied Salmon and three Beane salad I just got Dunn Eaton.

PS You can Check with BBref if you don't believe Mee.

Kind of getting lame after every loss.

You need a new shtick, you're getting perilously close to jumping the shark. Wouldn't want to see that.

It's getting kind of lame that the Twins are pissing away games where their starters are pitching great and allowing zero, one or two runs, continually trotting out guys like Escobar and Nunez in the LF and DH slots and for some reason relying on a guy like Boyer to pitch high leverage innings. (and forcing Fien to stay in and get shelled when he is clearly "off" one night because there isn't anyone you can bring in at that point)

Finding a bullpen arm is the easiest thing to fill in baseball, yet the Twins haven't made a concerted effort prior to the season or even currently to fix it. Signing guys like Boyer and Stauffer was never going to work out, everyone could see that.

Boyer's been pretty good so far this year. They have signed the likes of Jared Burton and done well by him. The thing is that they can't be relied on, especially given the weak peripherals. Reinforcements are needed. BTW, BBRef gives Escobar positive ratings in left field defense. I think he's been a bit shaky, but he runs pretty well and has a good arm. He hasn't been a disaster in the outfield. I guess my concern is that he isn't a good enough hitter to be manning a corner position on a regular basis.

Boyer is ok as a 5th/6th inning guy, or a guy you bring in when you down a couple runs in the 7th or 8th, he shouldn't be brought it in high leverage close games IMO.

Fien is OK and has been solid overall, yesterday was a disaster for him though.

When you give guys like Boyer and Fien little to no margin of error (1 run leads or tied games) you are playing with fire.

Yeah Escobars defense is ok in LF, but he doesn't hit nearly enough to justify playing him out there. Struggles or not I would much rather see them call up Arcia for a few games to man LF if your only apparent option is Escobar.

Most of the criticism about the Hunter signing was that he was 39 years old and you were giving him too much money. Most of the criticism about the Stauffer and Boyer signings were that they just were never good ball players to begin with.

Slight difference.

And that may all be true, bu then telling us about it isn't going to change anything, is it? Storm Target Field; maybe with a surplus tank, That'll get their attention.

That could be literally said about every single thread in the history of Twins Daily.

actually, you help make the case. season ain't over yet and, even though i've never been a hunter fan, i hafta admit he's already earned his money.

I think that is a little bit much, he has earned his money THUS far I guess, but if his numbers nose dive in the 2nd half I don't think most of us will go "well since he had a .769 OPS in the first half, its all good"

The reality is Hunter ranks 26th out of 58 OF for OPS+ and is at the very least below average defensively any more. I wouldn't say he has already "earned"  his money.

What intangibles do you speak too?

The offense other than Dozier and Plouffe has taken a huge step back (I doubt you can credit Hunter for their improvement) Neither Hicks or Buxton has looked solid yet. The offense as a whole has let the Twins down the past several weeks etc.
