The plate was blocked.

I can understand running on Chicago, considering their lack of defensive prowess.

Mr. Harrelson just told a story about the last game of the year in 1967 during which he named-dropped a bunch of Twins's names (Chance, Versailles, Carew, Battey). I was very young (9 years old) at the time, but not too young to be stung by the painful end of the season. Anybody have memories that season?

Again, hi.

I think we had to win one out of two in Boston at the end of the year, and lost both. :(

Yup.  Lost one in Cali the game before, too, if'n I recall correctly.

Tough for a young boy to take.

Did your great grandchildren take it hard?.

We moved to Michigan that summer. Rooted for the Tigers, and they had to win both ends of a doubleheader with the Angels to force a one-game playoff with Boston. Dick McCauliffe, a 2nd baseman who hadn't hit into a doubleplay all season, hit into a doubleplay to end the game and the Tigers lost 8-6. Sad day to be 11 and your team loses the big game.

Dang it, Pelf.  Missed his spot.  And just when Hawk was in epic whine mode.  I thought he might go down to the dugout himself and throttle Ramirez...

I'll have to make note of that as I too am nearing my 2000th.

How the $*)())# do you throw that pitch on 0-2 to Soto?

He was thinking that Soto was thinking he would waste one so he decided to groove one thinking Soto wouldn't be ready for it.

Soto was thinking that Pelfrey would think that he would think he would waste one and therefore groove one.

"Don't think, it can only hurt the ballclub."

It's awesome being the post leader. That means you get to set goofy rules.

I believe that Brian should do the thinking.

I think that if scientists ever want to study homerism Hawk would be a good one to study.

Heh--  he reminds me of old Jim Adelson.  Growing up in ND, he was the guy who always got the play by play job in the state basketball and football playoffs.  He was terrible homer, just like Hawk. He was from Fargo, knew all the Fargo kids, called em all by their first names, knew what their dads did, told their stories, etc, etc.  Anybody other team he would barely make the effort to learn their names.  "And a 30-foot jumper by #45 there..."  As I recall, tho, at least he never gave the silent treatment.  Everybody in the state who wasn't from Fargo just hated watching his broadcast of our little state's biggest sporting events of the year.

I remember Jim Adelson and Dewey the weatherman and his odd shaped vegetables.

A lot of reckless statements tonight without really thinking of the potential consequences and ramifications that could never be undone.

What you have here, is a manager with no confidence in his bullpen.

It might work, it might not, but the right move here is to bring in a reliever.

EDIT:  didn't work.
