Blake Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 The plate was blocked.I can understand running on Chicago, considering their lack of defensive prowess.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Mr. Harrelson just told a story about the last game of the year in 1967 during which he named-dropped a bunch of Twins's names (Chance, Versailles, Carew, Battey). I was very young (9 years old) at the time, but not too young to be stung by the painful end of the season. Anybody have memories that season?Again, hi.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 And I had a bunch of tickets to the WS.
Hrbowski Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I think that if scientists ever want to study homerism Hawk would be a good one to study.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I think we had to win one out of two in Boston at the end of the year, and lost both. Yup. Lost one in Cali the game before, too, if'n I recall correctly. Tough for a young boy to take.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Buxton advances the runner. Little things right.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Yup. Lost one in Cali the game before, too, if'n I recall correctly. Tough for a young boy to take. Did your great grandchildren take it hard?.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Pssst. Riverbrian (if you happen to read ye olde game threade) how do you take full advantage of your 2000th post? I'd like to be your 2k list for purposes of preparation... (i hear y2k preparedness was important, once upon a time)
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 The plate was blocked.Very Dramatic sentence if you imagine Jon Lovitz saying it as Master Thespian.

I was very young (9 years old) at the time, but not too young to be stung by the painful end of the season. Anybody have memories that season? We moved to Michigan that summer. Rooted for the Tigers, and they had to win both ends of a doubleheader with the Angels to force a one-game playoff with Boston. Dick McCauliffe, a 2nd baseman who hadn't hit into a doubleplay all season, hit into a doubleplay to end the game and the Tigers lost 8-6. Sad day to be 11 and your team loses the big game.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 How the $*)())# do you throw that pitch on 0-2 to Soto?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Pelfrey gives up an 0-2 hit to allow the tying run to score from 3rd...
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 For some reason I think Pelf is done and I think it is an inning too early.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Dang it, Pelf. Missed his spot. And just when Hawk was in epic whine mode. I thought he might go down to the dugout himself and throttle Ramirez...

A blender and kidney stones
formerly33 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 The 2000th post must contain be a paragraph with references of Herbert Hoover... A blender and kidney stonesI'll have to make note of that as I too am nearing my 2000th.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 How the $*)())# do you throw that pitch on 0-2 to Soto?He was thinking that Soto was thinking he would waste one so he decided to groove one thinking Soto wouldn't be ready for it. Soto was thinking that Pelfrey would think that he would think he would waste one and therefore groove one.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 He was thinking that Soto thought he would waste one so he decided to groove one thinking Soto wouldn't be ready for it.Soto was thinking that Pelfrey would think that he would think he would waste one and therefore groove one."Don't think, it can only hurt the ballclub."
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I'll have to make note of that as I too am nearing my 2000th.It's awesome being the post leader. That means you get to set goofy rules.

David HK Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I think that if scientists ever want to study homerism Hawk would be a good one to study.Heh-- he reminds me of old Jim Adelson. Growing up in ND, he was the guy who always got the play by play job in the state basketball and football playoffs. He was terrible homer, just like Hawk. He was from Fargo, knew all the Fargo kids, called em all by their first names, knew what their dads did, told their stories, etc, etc. Anybody other team he would barely make the effort to learn their names. "And a 30-foot jumper by #45 there..." As I recall, tho, at least he never gave the silent treatment. Everybody in the state who wasn't from Fargo just hated watching his broadcast of our little state's biggest sporting events of the year.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Get through this half inning, I like our chances

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I believe that Brian should do the thinking. A lot of reckless statements tonight without really thinking of the potential consequences and ramifications that could never be undone.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Brave decision by Molitor. I don't want to see Aaron Thompson in a tie game with RISP.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Oh God, Thompson's warming up- and not in a Red Wings uniform.... Oh, the humanity!
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Brave decision by Molitor. I don't want to see Aaron Thompson in a tie game with RISP.And he stays in to face Melky.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 What you have here, is a manager with no confidence in his bullpen. It might work, it might not, but the right move here is to bring in a reliever. EDIT: didn't work.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 One can say that the reason Molitor left Pelfrey in is because his bullpen options were so bad.
