Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 I worry that whatever the recounts (or other investigations) uncover will be paper-thin and circumstantial--leading to just enough wisps of hope that Democrats misdirect their efforts and resources--but hardly enough to affect the outcome of the election in any meaningful way. I think it's a mistake for Clinton to 'join' the recount efforts. A third-party, maybe Russ Feingold, should provide oversight if it's needed. Not necessarily. The easiest and most likely way that Russia would do it would be pretty easy to check. The manual ballot count won't match the count on the machine. That is pretty black and white.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Guess who said the following quotes: "Once you say that everybody should be covered, can't be denied coverage because they are sick – which most Americans would agree with that – you put yourself in a box. Insurance is about young people who are healthy buying insurance like you all to pay for me and him.""If you don't have to buy insurance until you get sick, most people won't. That's where the mandate becomes important.""Somebody's got to work through this problem. If we're going to accept the proposition that you can never be denied coverage because you've been sick, then somebody's got to create a system where people participate."
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Author Posted December 2, 2016 Trevor Noah was clearly a much more balanced and thoughtful person in this discussion, but we need more of this. From both sides.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2016 Author Posted December 2, 2016 Credit to Brock for this one. (And holy crap on just the sampling of Bernie dirt!) And this writer just made my list of people to follow. Damn.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Nice article. Trump being elected could ultimately help the Democratic party. Trump is going to destroy credibility to the republicans and provide a real chance to even the tides again. Too bad Pelosi maintained her position.

If he doesn't (even by dumb luck)....well then things get really bad.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 If he fails. If he doesn't (even by dumb luck)....well then things get really bad.Even if he fails, our populace may not care, or even know. Like the Carrier deal, where he essentially traded corporate giveaways for jobs. The only thing people will 'hear' is that the jobs didn't leave for Mexico.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Even if he fails, our populace may not care, or even know. Like the Carrier deal, where he essentially traded corporate giveaways for jobs. The only thing people will 'hear' is that less than half of the jobs didn't leave for Mexico.FTFY. Well, OK, you're right, they won't hear what I added. Point taken. And now, even Sarah Palin is weighing in on crony capitalism. Sanders/Palin 2020!
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Whoa, she actually makes sense in that article. Is she backhanded criticizing that deal? Sure seems like it to me.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2016 Author Posted December 3, 2016 So if he's making liberals and conservatives mad......is this a good thing? Or the worst thing ever? It's probably one or the other right?
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Slightly off topic and I'm not sure if it's been addressed on here yet but has anyone else been enjoying SNL's Trump skits? http://jezebel.com/trump-really-just-cannot-stop-watching-snl-1789659809 The scream at 4:05 in this one actually made me to a spit take.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2016 Author Posted December 4, 2016 I have to admit, they are killing it. For that show, they couldn't have asked for a better result.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Is it time for a POTUS Donald trump thread?
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I've enjoyed the hundreds of pages here, but now it seems the main talking points are what trump is doing.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 And stickied/pinned. Heh ... it's easy enough to find using advanced search, so I don't think we need to pin it. But I'm locking it down. The end of a very long, messy season.
