Article: Pioneer Press Partnering with Twins Daily

Congrats. I haven't read the Pioneer Press much in the last year as their website just doesn't do it for me. Will give them another chance.

Congratulations to all of you. You are building something pretty cool here. I for one am very grateful!

Mike Berardino is a first-rate, go-to Twins beat reporter. This is a win-win in putting his byline alongside the outstanding TD minor league reporters.

Hopefully this works out for both parties - because the Pioneer Press' sport writing largely is the weak sister as compared to the Strib's (besides Berardino) and their website absolutely, positively sucks. So your content on their can't help but improve the page...

Great work fellas. Did any of you imagine how big TD has become and will continue to be when you started?! Also, as you grow will you continue to avoid the mainstream media pitfalls that you have railed against, namely pulling punches? That is my only concern while reading your continued excellent content. Thanks.

It's a conversation we have on a regular basis. Some writers have become closer to the Twins to improve coverage, others have kept their distance to remain objective. It's a good mix, in my opinion.

Agreed, Mike and then Phil Miller over at the Strib are the two best imo.

One of the nice things is that if you click on a link to a TD story on the PP, it takes you off the PP site directly to Twins Daily. That is a great bonus (as opposed to the TwinsCentric blog on the Strib that keeps you on their site and in their commenting format).

Congrats, guys for a great tie-in!

(And, not to divert from the main topic here but I find Berardino alone to be worth the entire Strib contingent. I cannot believe the sheer amount of information he imparts.)

(Oh, but honestly the PP should consider having the TD articles open in a new tab instead of the same one. I always get a little frustrated when I click a link and can't easily get back to where I was originally.)

Very exciting! Congrats!

John, is PP providing any feedback/involvement/coverage here on TD?

Exactly what we're doing is evolving. We would love to have them provide links to some of their latest stories in our forum, for instance.

I agree with you, except Miller's coverage seem to have been cut back a bit this year.

A. Congrats, this is very nice news.

B. The PP website is awful, just awful.

C. I am a fan of their Twins coverage.

That pretty much sums things up, Mike, if you just mean their beat writer, the rest of their crew, not so much. TD's inclusion in their content is a huge coup for the PP (and as I said previously, a nice win-win arrangement). I'd be kind-of surprised if the Strib didn't make an effort to making their relationship with TD more expanded and more exclusive. It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

Agree wholeheartedly with the mutual benefits. The PP could definitely use a boost and TD gets opened up to another large segment of the cities who may have been unaware. I would love to see figures for TD site traffic following this deal (and others) I'm sure its very interesting and exciting. On a side note, how can the PP site be soooo universally panned and they still don't address it??
