Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I confess I would've thought about sending Pinto up there.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Jack Morris notes that Gardenhire's "hands are tied" with respect to pinch hitting or running. Might be a bit of an understatement. A discussion of whether or not he reverse-Houdini tied his own hands with roster decision input is outside the scope of color commentary, so there's no use holding it against Morris. Just sayin'.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Off and on mild headache... not enough to keep me from doing my job. Get light headed when I stand up quickly, which isn't terribly unusual except that it happens pretty much every time I stand up. Honestly the lower back pain was what really bothered me yesterday, that's finally clearing up and I'm just sore all over. What'd you do?
Whammy Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Terry Francona thumbing his nose at Ron Gardenhire edited to add: for those of you following at 35,000... Francona pinch hit for Morgan, thinning out his bench and using up his only backup OF.... Up 3 runs

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What'd you do? I was jumping to catch a high throw from the 3B in a softball game and collided with the runner trying to beat the throw.
Whammy Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I love that the highlight of the Tigers' game included a sitting ovation from 2 of Detroit's most rotund residents.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 On a note related to Hermann's wacky misadventures in the outfield, KLaw has an article at four-letter about Bryce Harper's injury that speculates that even though catcher is top of the defensive value spectrum and corner OF is near the bottom, it may not be an easy transition.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 RB...he's not talking, he's typing. I said!!! I'm not an expert!!! Jeez
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Go away Hermann. Far away. He probably will, but on a shallow pop fly just beyond the infielders...
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Im not an expert... But you sound concussed. I agree, and am rooting for you to at least call a doctor.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 That pitcher is in his 50s..... Right? His kids are in their 50's
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What? What happens if both 'zuke and Hermann get injured? Who catches? Pitch to contact?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 I agree, and am rooting for you to at least call a doctor. Call that Doctor... Stomp stomp.... Call that Doctor... Stomp Stomp
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 That pitcher is in his 50s..... Right? One would think the top of our order could get the ball out of the infield off him then, no?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What? What happens if both 'zuke and Hermann get injured? Who catches? You forgot about former MLB catcher Josh Wil... Never mind.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Pitch to contact?Exceptionally well played, sir.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Don't worry, Plouffe. I'm sure if you keep not swinging at that, they'll stop calling it a strike eventually.
Hawkeye12 Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Another K looking for Plouffe. At least we got to skip the part where he reaches down to take off the shin guard on the full count, then looks back in disbelief at the call.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I yearn for the day that Hermann and Colabello don't have to start. Get back soon, Mauer and Arcia/Willingham!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I confess I would've thought about sending Punto up there. If for no other reason than the possibility that he might get hit by a pitch and still slide head-first into the bag.
