DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Goin will no doubt mention this to Gardy, who will call him a stat nerd while giving him a wedgie... I'm pretty sure nearly every manager in the game does the same thing in that situation. Down two, 9th inning, zero outs with basically a 9th hitter at the plate. Really a no brainer to be honest.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 1. Hermann sucks at hitting.Apparently he sucks at bunting just as much, if not more.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 1. Hermann sucks at hitting.2. It allows you to tie the game with one single if he does pull it off. Of course he didn't.... Remember when they could run the bases and bunt? Those were the days.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Replay is gonna be close. Either way, nice hustle play by the A's that's hard to picture the Twins executing properly.
Reider Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I thought Suzuki was out at 3rd base in live play.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Instant replay sucks. Another Bud Selig idea that screws up the game.

zchrz Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 These reviews are really laughably terrible

Conventional wisdom doesn't make it the correct decision.3. I'm still fairly sure that going from 1st/2nd no out to 2nd/3rd one out makes it LESS likely that you'll score more than one run in an inning (although it makes it slightly more likely you'll score one run)
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Replay is so stupid. They still don't get the calls right and it slows everything down. That was as clear as day.
Reider Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 It's hard to tell if the 3rd baseman's foot was on the bag, which is why the call probably stands.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I have a feeling a DP is coming...
Reider Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I think his foot came off the bag after it was on the bag. Either way, very close.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 The puzzling 'Jim Johnson, pitch-to-contact closer' era seems to be winding down...
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 The puzzling 'Jim Johnson, pitch-to-contact closer' era seems to be winding down... But he racks up so many saves!!!
Reider Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Oh yeah, now that they froze it.. he looks safe.
James Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 They lamed out and said there wasn't enough evidence to overturn or confirm the call... so it stands.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 At work....are you saying that Suzuki almost didn't make it to third on a ball hit to the OF?
