Agreed, I think he has shown that playing CF might not be in his tool kit.

 

Maybe later but certainly not now.

 

Somebody in the org was pro-Bartlett.

 

And pro-Bartlett over Presley and Parmelee and Mastroianni.

I agree completely.

 

The main concern is that Bartlett is the CF backup plan. Shoehorned into the OF to fit what the roster needed.

 

For the record, he can't hit either.

Easy choice. Ipecac Escobar over Baneberry Bartlett, unless Escobar is so bad that he literally starts crying on the field.

I think it was Gardy or TC Bear.

You leave him out of it, his decision making is BEYOND REPROACH. Gardy isn't bad either.

tough to say if Mastro is back up to full speed, but Presley or Parmelee would be nice to have right now.

Good question. It's hard for me to imagine that Molitor would take his current job without there being an excellent chance that he would manage sooner rather than later, so Gardenhire may be on the way out regardless of any wacky roster hijinx.

 

TK stayed with the listing ship in the 90's and turned the team over to Gardy only when improvement in performance was visible. That may be the plan for this transition, also.

I have it on good authority TC Bear's backup outfielder of choice was Alex Presley.

TC Bear is awfully persuasive...

 

Even if Gardy was begging Antony to keep Bartlett as the BU CF, Antony could still make the call to go with Parm or Presley or sign one.

 

i struggle with the thought that Gardy would want Bartlett instead of a BU CF. This is the manager who won't DH Pinto because he doesn't want to lose DH. Why would he want to BU Hicks with a player who can't hit or field?

Thats a good point. It starting to remind me of the Scott Hatteberg scene in Moneyball.
