TK stayed with the listing ship in the 90's and turned the team over to Gardy only when improvement in performance was visible. That may be the plan for this transition, also.

It wouldn't surprise me if he gets a free pass again this year with a farewell tour featuring Sano and Buxton in 2015. Wouldn't have a big problem with that if not for concern that there might be a temptation to retain him beyond next season if it goes crazy 2001 good.

Maybe Bartlett is injured from previous at bat.

 

By all accounts he is a good man. I don't wish an injury on him. It isn't his fault the Twins rostered him.

 

If he is injured and day to day, it will give an easier opening towards a roster decision. No reason to wait to see if the 25th man on the roster can recover in a few days.

This is a really long game, but I didn't want to do my taxes anyway.

 

Interesting, I am doing them while I watch. The changes at the state level encouraged me to procrastinate.

I have been meeting with remodeling contractors and watching parts of the game with the TV on mute. Now catching up via the game thread. It sounds like Bartlett has not had a good game, but at least the Twins are winning and Perkins will have a save opportunity. BTW, nice game thread.

 

Plouffe should have slid there.

Plouffe barely touched the plate. Poor slide, but I'm happy to have the insurance run.

 

He was lucky not to break his ankle there.

There's your reason to bench "Flori", he's lousy at instructing players to slide. Seriously, this isn't the first time Plouffe didn't slide when he should have. I guess he got to the plate fractionally quicker than sliding.

I would hope that someone talks to Plouffe about that and makes him watch the replay.
