2015 Twins win tracking

I've been meaning to do this for awhile but never got around to it. Watching the Twins win is fun but sometimes, it's like we've forgotten just how much rotten baseball we watched to get to this point (at least it seems that way with the "trade Pelfrey" talk that persists around the board).

 

So I'm going to track 2015 wins and compare them to previous seasons.

 

Win 37:

2014: 80

2013: 84

2012: 89

The 2014 club got to 36 wins on June 22. But #37 came on June 29. That stretch and the August swoon were probably the low points of the season.

It should be noted that in the past four seasons, no Twins team reached the 38 win mark before the season's halfway point.

 

Barring a collapse, the 2015 Twins should do it in the 68-70 game range.

The point being that the gap grew by 6 during the time between wins #36 and #37. Just a random observation, no need to get up in arms over it.

This is the point when previous teams started collapsing. A huge gap between the 38-39 wins for the 2014 squad.

Even during this recent "slide" the Twins haven't lost too much ground, they now sit 3.5 behind KC which can be made up in less than a week.

 

More importantly they are in the 1st wild card spot as well.

Shoot, if 2009 has taught us anything.  3 games can be made up in a weekend.  September 2009 was fun to watch.

40 wins means that the Twins will exit the troublesome month of June with a winning record for the season (and a little cushion). One more to clinch a winning statistical first half.

The only team to reach even 47 wins by the 100 game mark was 2011.

We are moving toward six weeks of mediocre baseball, but there hasn't been a long losing streak mostly because of good starting pitching and Glen Perkins. One more win will guarantee a winning record at the All-Star break.
