  1. Interesting. Don't recall if Dominguez was one of the bigger signees a year ago, was he? Or was he signed in 2023? Clicked on his name and see he is 18+ and from Mexico, which was a bit of a surprise.
  2. Thanks Steve, and all you guys as TD for keeping us informed on the Twins farm teams this year. You cannot know how much it is appreciated. Got a feeling it is going to be an interesting winter for the Twins front office. Don't have a clue which way they will go. Whatever way it is I hope they go all in, either total rebuild or spend a few bucks and make some smart moves to get back into the hunt in 2026. Thanks again to all of you at TD.
  3. One of the best posts I have read in a long time. Couldn't agree more with everything you have said. And Cody threw me a curveball. By the title I thought the article would be about three of the players the Twins picked up at the trade deadline. Wasn't that, but was an excellent post Cody. Add me to those who want to see Martin work very hard on outfield defense this winter. With his athleticism and speed, he should be a solid outfielder. Or better.
  4. Fantastic start by SWR, certainly the best of his career. Should they keep their top three starters for next year, they will have the starting pitching needed to compete for the post-season. With five young starters battling for the #4 and #5 spots, they should have the depth that will allow them to either trade one or move one to the bullpen. They also have the two with perhaps the highest ceilings, Rojas and Prielipp, on track to join the team by late summer. On the other hand, should SWR pitch like last night his last two times out, will that encourage the FO to consider trading either Pablo or Ryan? Either should bring back both a top reliever and a top prospect as well as freeing up some cash to spend in free agency on another reliever or position of need. Will they feel they still have a playoff caliber starting rotation without Ryan or Lopez?
  5. Great game to end a great season for GG. Also great seeing Jenkins with another home run to end his season. And for a third great, or is it fifth, it's great seeing EmRod playing baseball. Now if the newish ownership group and the FO can have a 'great' winter, we will all have a great spring!
  6. Why Cody, have you decided you needed to rain on Buxton's parade?
  7. Will second the above comment about Prielipp. After only 30 some innings total in professional ball, he is pitching in September. The box score wasn't great, Seth, but I appreciate your explanation that showed he was fantastic other than a short stretch in the fourth inning. Don't know what the future holds for this young man, but am excited he will be pitching at Target Field come 2026. He along with a few others currently in AA and AAA just might be that extra something the Twins need to be competitive in 2026. Also liked what Jenkins has been doing the past few games as he settles into an every day role at AAA. Looked a bit deeper at what Mendez has done prior to joining the Twins last month. See that he is having his best year since rookie ball as a 21 year-old at AA. Gotta believe he has a nice future with the big club. Lets hope for the best for both the Wind Surge and Kernels today. Found it interesting that both starting pitchers joined the Twins at the trading deadline.
  8. Great seeing Houston have a game like last night. If his defense is as good as advertised, he just needs to hit a little to be a valuable part of the Twins future. And thanks to all of the above comments from you all who are watching the games. They are appreciated. Can the Kernels bring back another championship? Please!
  9. If you follow my comments here since Wallner arrived, you will know that I have a problem with the Twins playing Wallner anywhere other than DH. Not a huge fan of Larnach out there either, but would rather see him in the field than Wallner. Yes, a lot of you have responded negatively to my Wallner comments, but I like to see outfielders that can get to most balls, like Kepler could before he also got old.
  10. Haven't seen the Twins live this year. My wife and I are old, don't want to deal with the hassles or cost, and she has no interest in crossing the Minneapolis city line other than on I-94 going towards Wisconsin. Have watched most of the games. Being old, I don't understand most of the data you all talk about all day. Yes, Buxton appears to play a bit more careful in an attempt to stay healthy. But any data that says Buxton is one of the four worst center fielders in the league is just plain hog wash. At least in my opinion.
  11. Fantastic outline of what the Twins should be doing in 2026. But do you really think the Twins FO and Rocco are capable of following said plan? I'm not.
  12. Interesting that two of the three are with the Kernels. Wishing them well for their upcoming series against the Twins former affiliate. As for Amick, there is an open spot in the Twins lineup awaiting he, or anyone, at first base. Unfortunately, he won't be ready to fill it in 2026.
  13. Agree with this logic, DJL44, but feel that Matthews is better suited for the pen. Maybe next year's closer? If Lewis can only have a good winter and spring. If he is healthy on opening day he could have a huge season and be that difference the Twins will need to compete in 2026. They have the starters, add an improved Martin and Keaschall along with the Buck Truck and the Twins could be fun to watch. Yes, they have to restock the pen, but they should have the assets to complete a few trades this winter along with signing one or two good relievers.
  14. Andy Pafko, that's a name from the past. Recall he was an older guy on that team, but a team and fan favorite. Also see that Covington played a bit in '56, so expect he may have began '57 in the minors with the outfield being Pafko, Bruton and Aaron. Really liked Covington and his power. If memory serves, his career with the Braves wasn't all that long. What is most interesting was that Aaron was 100% capable of moving to center after Bruton went down. Not a lot of power hitters who would be capable of that. That and the fact he was a second baseman when he began his career in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
  15. Even though I was a farm kid who got to Milwaukee for only one game a year, was a huge Braves fan in the late '50's. And what an A-B-C outfield that team had, Aaron, Bruton and Covington. Can't recall who got hurt to get Hazle his playing time. Or was that before Covington arrived? [edit: checked and see that Covington was with the Braves in '57, with around 350 plate appearances. Expect he may have missed some time with an injury.]
  16. Would love to leave two hearts for this comment, LA, but they don't have that option.
  17. Are you referring to Hurricane Bob Hazle with the Braves? When was it, late '50's? Recall he was on fire hitting around .400, before he ran out of season. Never did anything after that. Sure was a headscratcher.
  18. Will agree with both the article and those criticizing Martin's play. I see a lot to like from what he can do well, hit for average and get on base with some speed both in the outfield or on the bases. Unfortunately, as several of you pointed out his running decisions and outfield routes leave a lot to be desired. Can he get better with experience, certainly. Will he? That remains to be seen, although I expect it is likely. Like many of you, I expect Larnach to be part of a trade over the winter to bring in a player to fill one of the Twins many holes. I also don't see Jenkins being at St. Paul much later than May 1, if at all. So the position the Twins have for Martin is that #13 bench spot who can play several positions reasonably well. Will he be that player?
  19. Jenkins' best game at AAA last night got me thinking about a callup. Will the Twins bring him up when the AAA season ends? But then I looked at when he was drafted to see that he doesn't need to be added to the 40-man this year. Expect that may be a big reason for them to not bring him over later this month. Lots to like about Rojas, however, six walks in three innings isn't one of them. See that DeBarge extended his organizational stolen base record to 66 last night. Also noted he was in center field. For those of you who have seen him play, is his speed that special? See that several of you are wondering where EmRod goes this coming week. I have a similar question, will Jiminez move up to Cedar Rapids for the playoffs? Would be fun seeing he and Tait in the same lineup.
  20. Excellent article, John. Am out of town so got to it a day late. I see the normal gripping about the owners and level of payroll. Haven't the Brewers taught us anything? It isn't how much payroll you have, it's what you do with it. Thanks to Correa, beginning next year they will likely have both a smaller payroll and more free dollars to spend than the past several years. It's what they do with it that will dictate what the team does in 2026. Unfortunately, at least for me I don't have a lot of confidence in the guys making those decisions. Like most Twins fans, I will be hoping they surprise me. Heck, change that comment to "shock me."
  21. Best news, at least for me Seth, was Prielipp on the mound pitching in September. Granted, he hasn't been Cy Young this summer. But I like what he did and expect the Twins also like it. Your final comment about the Saints was exactly what I was thinking. It took Jenkins exactly one week to settle in at AAA before hitting like the player he is. None of us have a clue what the Twins are going to look like when pitchers and catchers report next February. Doubt we will see Jenkins with the Twins on opening day. But will be surprised if he isn't with them when the calendar turns to May. The most disappointing news for many of us is how this has been mostly a lost season for Rodriguez. He played what, 40 some games with the Saints? When was the last time he played most of a season? I can't remember. Could he be a fixture in the Twins outfield as soon as next year? Certainly. But 2025 did nothing to prepare him for that, thus, he remains a huge question mark.
  22. Wasn't that long ago that we were concerned Culpepper was wearing down from the long season. Sure seems to have found another gear the last week or so. Another two hit night from Jenkins. But what I really liked was his beating out an infield grounder and taking third forcing a mistake by the defense. Too few of the top Twins prospects play with speed. Love it! Also see that Jiminez was at first base again last night. With this pair of young catchers on the horizon, appears the Twins are working hard to be able to regularly play both when they arrive at Target Field. Was nice seeing last night's outing from Armstrong. Wasn't he considered a throw in from the Castro trade?
  23. Great look at the situation Cody. Thanks. My son played college ball at Denver U and remains in Denver 35 year later. Huge baseball fan and fan of the Rockies. Asked him last winter how the Rockies continue to draw so well considering they are terrible every year. His response was that Coors Field is the place to be all summer. There are a lot of younger adults living in the immediate area. He said many aren't baseball fans, they just go there for the party. I guess it may help to have the ballpark named after a beer.
