  1. Thanks for another great report, Seth. They are appreciated. I know Raya has been better of late, but last night was fantastic. The part I liked best was the 7 K's to 1 walk. Also loved the three innings by Ohl. I know he has been solid, but wasn't aware of his background. Seeing he is from Grand Canyon brought back some memories. My son played for Denver U back in the 80's when DU and Grand Canyon were both NAIA schools. Remember one year they met in the regional playoffs. Recall the final was Grand Canyon 20'something to DU's 3 or 4. I think that team had 3 or 4 future major league players. I remember one was Tim Salmon, can't remember the others. Will Ohl get his first callup later this summer? Saw Culpepper's line and again just shook my head. Kid has been amazing. What is most impressive to me is his 15 of 17 stolen bases at Cedar Rapids. Heck, he might have 30 steals this year. The Twins must find a way to get more team speed. Enjoy your weekend, Seth.
  2. Thanks for the report, Cody. I was out of town when Keaschall broke in so I have yet to see him play. With his return right around the trading deadline, he would be a perfect replacement should Castro get traded. Hopefully, like Castro he would play every day albeit at different positions. For me, the most intriguing part of this young man's game is his speed. Five steals in five games means he not only got on base, but also had the speed and instincts to put pressure on the defense. Twins have way too little of that. I keep forgetting about EmRod as it seems he is never playing. If he is the player you write of, he also would be a perfect replacement for either Larnach or Wallner, should one of them be traded. I know he plays some center field so I assume he is a better than average defender? You can see that I am in the camp of those wanting the Twins to move some players with their return more quality than quantity. Also want to see them bring up some of these prospects instead of acquiring a AAAA player as part of each trade.
  3. Have never seen Eeles pay, but was wondering how similar he is to Arraez? I know he is a bit shorter, but am guessing he is faster. True or not? He plays more defensive positions. Is he better at any of them than Arraez was at second base? Doubt he will hit in the mid-.300's, but love what I continue hearing about him. Knew little about Bohorquez before reading this today. Your report, Cody, has me excited about this young man. What may be most exciting is if the Twins were to finally get a good young pitcher who they actually signed from one of the Latin countries. Can't remember who the last one was? As for Jenkins. Will agree with those above who are hoping for good health for the rest of the season. If he has that, I expect we all will be more than pleased with the results.
  4. It was realistic to expect Jenkins to struggle a bit when coming back from a long injury to start his season. We would hope that after the rust was gone, he would begin hitting like the future superstar we hope he will be. Is that starting to happen? Looks to me like it might. Still cannot believe that GG and Culpepper continued being so hot after taking that feared move up to AA. And it has now been more than just a small sample, at least for Gonzalez.
  5. Thanks for the report, Seth. Was good seeing the DSL Twins get a win. There haven't been a lot of W's for that squad. Whereas Hill has been dealing with some growing pains early in his professional career, MacLeod might be going to the head of the class as the next Twins lefty to graduate from the system. Probably not this year. But we could see both he and Prielipp sometime in 2026. Either, or both would be the first lefties to come up with real starting potential in I can't remember how long. Thanks again, Seth. Trust you are enjoying your Holiday weekend.
  6. Great article, Matt. Thanks. Hope you are wrong about one comment, however. Rather than trading Bader later this month, I hope they resign him at year's end. Personally, can't stomach the thought of Larnach and Wallner being our corner outfielders day-after-day. So I hope the traded outfielder is either Larnach or Wallner.
  7. Took a look at Jenkins other data. In only 16 games (74 PA) back at AA, he has 15 K's and 14 walks. Also is 7 of 7 in stolen bases. Know nothing about his D other than people have said it is very good. Seems like he is developing into a very good complete player, something the Twins haven't had a lot of when Buxton isn't playing.
  8. Could that be because they have better rehab facilities in Fort Myers and want to keep guys there a few extra days?
  9. See Eeles had three hits again yesterday. Also noted that he played center field. Really hope this young man gets a shot with the Twins later this summer. Maybe after they ship out a few guys later this month. And when/if he does get called up, I hope like heck our Manager gives him some playing time. Also saw that Culpepper had a nice two hit game. Speaking of Wichita, see that Prielipp threw 62 pitches in 3.0 shutout innings with very nice results. Two walks was maybe one too many, but gotta like 6 K's. Don't know anything about most of the guys playing for the Mussels. But Acuna is the only hitter in yesterday's lineup batting over .212. And he was only .250 something. I know most of these guys are young, but are there any real prospects that play in the field on that team?
  10. Agree with those above who said the Twins must first decide if they want to keep Castro for 2026 and beyond. If they do they need to sign him to an extension, now. Considering the prospects they have on the horizon, or IL, and the fact the team is for sale I suspect signing him isn't a real option. Also agree with those above who are hopeful the Twins can get a bit of a bidding war going and get something better than what you suggest from the Yankees. Personally, would love to see someone with a lot of upside, someone at least as close as AA. Would also prefer they take quality over quantity, ie, one good prospect. If that someone could be a catcher, even better.
  11. Come here every day. When I look at the Wichita Box Score, seems GG did something well. Has me just shaking my head with a big smile on my face. Being a fan of the Twins, haven't been a lot of smiles for a while. Great article, Matt. But you did miss one big bit of news. DeBarge was thrown out attempting to steal for the second time this year. If I knew how to do one of those smiley things here, I would. (you do have that, don't you?)
  12. Add me to the list of those hoping the Twins will address this problem later this month. Would like to see the main return in one of several deals be a catcher that is very good defensively with a decent bat. Someone who recently moved up to AAA would be ok as he could be ready for the backup role next spring. Only problem is there seems to be few good catchers in most organizations.
  13. Usually look at each box score before reading your article, Steve. As mentioned above, thought Tonkin had a good outing until I read your article. Letting two guys score coming in with the bags full is one thing, but walking two is something else. OK, he may have pitched well after that, but he gets a big booo from me for those two walks. Great seeing Julien hitting better of late. Have only watched one early Saints game so I haven't seen him hit. Has he learned to do something, heck anything, with two strikes and the pitch close to the strike zone? If he has, he may have some value. If not, I doubt it. As for his future, agree with those that he doesn't really fit going forward. Hopefully, he will continue hitting well and the Twins can get something for him in either July or the offseason. What has caught my eye is what Martin has been doing since back playing. Really hope that continues because he just may be the player best positioned to replace Castro, if he is traded this month or doesn't return over the winter, as he can play six positions similar to Willie.
  14. Great seeing Jenkins with a home run a few days ago and double yesterday. Seems like he is settling in and we're starting to see some of that anticipated power. Gonzalez sure has been opening a lot of eyes. At least mine. Was also reminded when I linked to his data page that the kid is only 21. Continue to find it hard to believe that he moved up to AA and his numbers got better.
  15. Fortunately, the Twins have another 3+ weeks before they need to make any of these decisions. The world may look a lot different come July 25. Or not. I will, however, ask the same question I did on a similar post last week. If you include Larnach, why not include Wallner. Both are average, at best defensively and don't run all that well. Both hit from the left side and although Wallner has big power, he ain't connecting all that much. To my old eye, Larnach seems to be the better bat, at least for most of this year. So if Larnach, why not Wallner?
  16. When a player is drafted in the first round, there is always hope he is the one. Now a year later, is it time to start believing Culpepper might actually be the one? Or is it still too soon? If not now, when?
  17. Thanks, Cody. One thought I had when reading this was whether or not Matthews could be back before the break. Would be nice if he could as it would allow the Twins to put Ober on the IL for fifteen days. Together with the all-star break, maybe three weeks would get his hip fully healthy?
  18. DeBarge walks and promptly steals his 41st base of the season. Seems like a walk is the same as a double for this guy. Good seeing the article explain that Prielipp's start wasn't as bad as the score indicated. Will second Finn's comment above about Jenkins getting his 5th stolen base in what, ten games? Not only is he healthy, but sure seems speed is part of his game. Hopefully, he doesn't pump iron all winter so he is no longer fast.
  19. Hear you DJL and haven't even thought about that. On the other hand, I am hopeful that Keaschall is a starter with a fixed position. Say second base.
  20. The trading deadline is still more than a month away. The way this team has been playing, they could be in first place, or last place come July 30th. It's too early to even think about what they should be doing. I also expect most of their trades, if they do much at all, will be dealing players who will be free agents come November. Understand the talk about Duran, but if they are going to trade him part of the return must be someone with a high upside and close to playing. Don't want to see several prospects playing A ball. We all know how that doesn't always work out.
  21. Great seeing what Martin and Sabato are doing of late. Is Martin's role on this team replacing Castro, if/when he is traded at the deadline? Very similar abilities. As for Sabato, expect like many of you I had forgotten about him. Somewhat amazing that he moves up to AAA and keeps hitting as he had been. Could he be someone who took time, but still could become a good major league player? Always concerned when I don't see Jenkins in the lineup. Thanks for the mention why. And tonight is the night that Prielipp is back on the hill. Here's hoping for a great outing.
  22. Count me among those who once were very high on Rosario. But the last year or so has caused me to kind of forget about him. Not any longer as he has been hitting like before for awhile. And then there was last night! Also hard to understand how Culpepper moves up to AA and nothing changed. Isn't AA supposed to be the hardest step in becoming a big league player?
  23. I know little about the Reds, jm, other than what I saw during the three games last week. Am a huge fan of their manager and loved how they played the game. The only other knowledge I have is related to the two trades with the Reds. The Sonny Gray trade worked out pretty good. The Mahle trade was a disaster.
  24. What does the future hold for Gonzalez? Sure is looking like he could be something special. At least his bat does. Will second the above comments about DeBarge and speed.
