Today may be the biggest start of the year for Paddack. Should he pitch like earlier this season with a good start, he may have some value for the Twins over the next week. It is extremely unlikely he will be back next year. Thus, I hope he has a good start, or two, and gets the Twins a nice prospect before the end of the month.

With both Jax and Duran needing extensions a year down the road, the cost to keep both beyond 2027 is probably too high. With Varland becoming another great late inning guy, this might be the time to make hay. Of the two I would trade Duran. Reason is he will likely demand a higher cost come extension time. A second reason is that he would likely also bring the bigger return. No matter who they trade with, the return must include at least TWO very high prospects. And they all can't be somebody's #3 ranked prospect down at hi-A. At least one must be close to big league ready and playing like a future star. Would also be great if the closest to big league ready would be a catcher. In that case, your Dodger deal makes sense, I think. Truth is I know little about Rushing.

I remain hopeful that our boys will get swept by the Dodgers, then drop 2 of 3 to Washington. That will get them to July 27th with four days till the deadline. Maybe then the FO will realize this team ain't gonna make it to the promised land and get serious about making some deals. I would be elated if they at a minimum moved those not returning in 2025. Hopefully, they will get something of value in return. But after thinking about all those past trades that were disasters, I just don't know. But if they aren't trading for established major league pitchers who may be injured, there could be a better result.

Thanks, Seth. Great seeing Keaschall back on the field playing baseball. Loved that he stole two bags and attempted a third. How long do you think it will be before he rejoins the Twins? Hadn't looked at Gonzalez' numbers recently. He has been at Wichita for awhile and it no longer is a small sample. What impressed me the most was 23 walks to 21 K's, which are around 10% of his plate appearances. Let's hope he is that special player the Twins thought he was when that trade was made. Could be big long term win for the front office, HUGE.

Saw mention of EmRod above. Didn't he go back on the IL yesterday or the day before. Bloody shame the Twins can't keep all these potential stars on the field for any length of time. Absolutely loved the photo at the top, Tom. Jenkins is bigger than I expected. Sure would be nice if that trio became the core the Twins could build around for the next decade. And all three can run which would be out of character for the Twins. Personally, would love it.

Expect mid-August for a Lopez return is optimistic, Cody. Considering he will probably need most of a 20 day rehab, early September seems more likely. Will he help should the Twins be real close come Labor Day. You betcha! But much of their chances for making the playoffs falls on Correa's shoulders. He is making over 25% of their total payroll and playing like, well I don't know what to say. Should that continue, they will need everything else to be perfect. On the other hand, should he begin playing like Buxton all would be good.

Five Tips for Twins Fans Visiting Coors Field
rdehring replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks, John. My son is a baseball guy who went to Denver U forty years ago to play ball and never left Colorado. Have often asked how the Rockies have really good attendance with seemingly crappy teams year-after-year. His response was simple...tons of people come to games to party more so than watching baseball. Enjoy your weekend. -
The FCL Twins are having a wonderful season. Are they in first place, Seth? I know DSL numbers don't often mean much. With five hitters having 800 plus OPS, sure looks good. I know they are all young and several got nice bonuses last winter. How do you feel about this group?

Lowed the first two picks, Jamie. Have a question about Barr. Is he going to be a tough signing? As a juco pick, I am guessing he has at least two years eligibility remaining. At #5, his bonus slot isn't all that big. Love the talent, but am concerned about signability. On the other hand, they didn't pick a high school kid at #11 who would require an overpay. So maybe they have the money to get Barr signed. Eight college pitchers from the final ten picks. Love it. Only problem I see is their taking no catchers. Are they more happy with several of their current catchers in the organization than we fans are?
-
Thanks Jamie for doing a great job in keeping us informed about this year's draft. What surprised me the most was that all four picks were right around where the pundits had them ranked. If memory serves, that is unusual for the Twins. Loved the first pick when I heard several of the guys on ESPN talking about his being the best defensive player in the draft. I value defense more than most and am of the opinion the Twins need a lot of help. With C4 starting to slow down defensively, hopefully he can get here by mid-2027 at the latest. Agree with the above comments about the two flame throwers. Please Lord, let one of 'em be the real deal. As for Young, expect they are rolling the dice and hoping they don't come up snake eyes. Should be fun seeing what they get today. As also mentioned above, hopefully there will be a catcher, or two coming soon. As for the draft in general, was surprised with both the number of shortstops selected in the first dozen or so picks and the number of high school kids taken in the first round. Was that expected, Jamie?

Loved your lead, Seth, Saturday in the Park. That was Chicago, right? Gotta like how Jenkins is having a solid game followed by another solid game, with a couple big nights mixed in. The good news is that he is playing. Unfortunately, EmRod is out again. Like what I am seeing from Winokur as the summer wears on. Was a bit surprised to see that yesterday's home run was number 12 to go with 47 rbi. Should he end the year with 20 or so home runs and 75-80 rbi, that's a heck of a year considering how young he is. I see the FCL club is winning two-thirds of their games. Am I correct to assume they are in first place? Or not?

Appreciate all you do, Jamie, leading up to the draft. Seeing I know nothing about any of these players, am eagerly awaiting what the Twins actually do tonight and tomorrow. Will then look forward to your in depth analysis of who they actually took. Do have a question, however. With the changes to college athletics these past months/years, will there be changes on how the top high school athletes look at their college options? Yes, most big schools, like the Big 10, won't be giving much or any revenue sharing dollars to baseball. But I suspect some of the better Southern and West Coast schools with the big baseball programs may throw some dollars to the sport, as well as some NIL money. Also, those smaller schools with big baseball programs would be free to find money for their top recruits. My question, have you heard anything or suspect that it will be more difficult to sign some of these college bound kids now that they can make a lot more in college than in the minor leagues, not counting their bonus? Doubt it will affect any of the higher first round guys with the multi million dollar bonuses. But sure could make a difference for those guys picked after round one or two.

Although not a dominant start, MacLeod had another solid outing. Continue to believe he potentially could help the Twins beginning some time in 2026. Saw that Austin Martin had another good night with three hits. As mentioned by jm above, agree that it is time to get him back with the Twins. Wondering that with the All-Star break beginning Monday, do they put C4 on the IL and bring Martin back? They could then decide who goes down when C4 returns soon after the break. Also, is there any information on Mike Canterino's rehab? After DFA'ing him off the 40-man, the Twins signed him to a two-year minor league contract. Expect he will rehab this year with the intent or hope that he can be healthy in '26. Just curious how his rehab is going and if he is on schedule for a return by next spring?

Thanks for another great report, Seth. They are appreciated. I know Raya has been better of late, but last night was fantastic. The part I liked best was the 7 K's to 1 walk. Also loved the three innings by Ohl. I know he has been solid, but wasn't aware of his background. Seeing he is from Grand Canyon brought back some memories. My son played for Denver U back in the 80's when DU and Grand Canyon were both NAIA schools. Remember one year they met in the regional playoffs. Recall the final was Grand Canyon 20'something to DU's 3 or 4. I think that team had 3 or 4 future major league players. I remember one was Tim Salmon, can't remember the others. Will Ohl get his first callup later this summer? Saw Culpepper's line and again just shook my head. Kid has been amazing. What is most impressive to me is his 15 of 17 stolen bases at Cedar Rapids. Heck, he might have 30 steals this year. The Twins must find a way to get more team speed. Enjoy your weekend, Seth.

Thanks for the report, Cody. I was out of town when Keaschall broke in so I have yet to see him play. With his return right around the trading deadline, he would be a perfect replacement should Castro get traded. Hopefully, like Castro he would play every day albeit at different positions. For me, the most intriguing part of this young man's game is his speed. Five steals in five games means he not only got on base, but also had the speed and instincts to put pressure on the defense. Twins have way too little of that. I keep forgetting about EmRod as it seems he is never playing. If he is the player you write of, he also would be a perfect replacement for either Larnach or Wallner, should one of them be traded. I know he plays some center field so I assume he is a better than average defender? You can see that I am in the camp of those wanting the Twins to move some players with their return more quality than quantity. Also want to see them bring up some of these prospects instead of acquiring a AAAA player as part of each trade.

Have never seen Eeles pay, but was wondering how similar he is to Arraez? I know he is a bit shorter, but am guessing he is faster. True or not? He plays more defensive positions. Is he better at any of them than Arraez was at second base? Doubt he will hit in the mid-.300's, but love what I continue hearing about him. Knew little about Bohorquez before reading this today. Your report, Cody, has me excited about this young man. What may be most exciting is if the Twins were to finally get a good young pitcher who they actually signed from one of the Latin countries. Can't remember who the last one was? As for Jenkins. Will agree with those above who are hoping for good health for the rest of the season. If he has that, I expect we all will be more than pleased with the results.

It was realistic to expect Jenkins to struggle a bit when coming back from a long injury to start his season. We would hope that after the rust was gone, he would begin hitting like the future superstar we hope he will be. Is that starting to happen? Looks to me like it might. Still cannot believe that GG and Culpepper continued being so hot after taking that feared move up to AA. And it has now been more than just a small sample, at least for Gonzalez.

Thanks for the report, Seth. Was good seeing the DSL Twins get a win. There haven't been a lot of W's for that squad. Whereas Hill has been dealing with some growing pains early in his professional career, MacLeod might be going to the head of the class as the next Twins lefty to graduate from the system. Probably not this year. But we could see both he and Prielipp sometime in 2026. Either, or both would be the first lefties to come up with real starting potential in I can't remember how long. Thanks again, Seth. Trust you are enjoying your Holiday weekend.

Gabriel Gonzalez is Back on the Prospect Map
rdehring replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Great article, Matt. Thanks. Hope you are wrong about one comment, however. Rather than trading Bader later this month, I hope they resign him at year's end. Personally, can't stomach the thought of Larnach and Wallner being our corner outfielders day-after-day. So I hope the traded outfielder is either Larnach or Wallner. -
Took a look at Jenkins other data. In only 16 games (74 PA) back at AA, he has 15 K's and 14 walks. Also is 7 of 7 in stolen bases. Know nothing about his D other than people have said it is very good. Seems like he is developing into a very good complete player, something the Twins haven't had a lot of when Buxton isn't playing.

Could that be because they have better rehab facilities in Fort Myers and want to keep guys there a few extra days?

See Eeles had three hits again yesterday. Also noted that he played center field. Really hope this young man gets a shot with the Twins later this summer. Maybe after they ship out a few guys later this month. And when/if he does get called up, I hope like heck our Manager gives him some playing time. Also saw that Culpepper had a nice two hit game. Speaking of Wichita, see that Prielipp threw 62 pitches in 3.0 shutout innings with very nice results. Two walks was maybe one too many, but gotta like 6 K's. Don't know anything about most of the guys playing for the Mussels. But Acuna is the only hitter in yesterday's lineup batting over .212. And he was only .250 something. I know most of these guys are young, but are there any real prospects that play in the field on that team?

Agree with those above who said the Twins must first decide if they want to keep Castro for 2026 and beyond. If they do they need to sign him to an extension, now. Considering the prospects they have on the horizon, or IL, and the fact the team is for sale I suspect signing him isn't a real option. Also agree with those above who are hopeful the Twins can get a bit of a bidding war going and get something better than what you suggest from the Yankees. Personally, would love to see someone with a lot of upside, someone at least as close as AA. Would also prefer they take quality over quantity, ie, one good prospect. If that someone could be a catcher, even better.
