  1. I remain hopeful, DJL, that Correa will find one of his hot streaks...and soon. That would enable the Twins to move him in July for an excellent return. I don't know if I am alone in this opinion, but I believe the Twins made a huge mistake when they signed him (Note: I didn't think so at the time). He doesn't appear, at least to me, to be the team leader a veteran making $35M needs to be. So much of what I hear from him is about him. Also am of the opinion that when ownership gave the ok to add $30+M to their budget that year knowing they would need to reduce it in future years, it was that reduction that enraged fans and expedited the dislike (I am not going to use that H word my granddaughter says we shouldn't use) most fans have of ownership today. Hopefully, they can move on and get two excellent young guys, preferably a shortstop and catcher, who are close to big league ready, very good defensively, and have the potential to be better than average hitters. Throw in another prospect from A ball and the team he is going to taking all his salary and I would say adios!
  2. Out of town and haven't seen any games Keaschall has played. But don't recall him being a base stealing threat while in the minors. Was he? Is he fast or just really good at doing the little things at stealing? Or are the Sox and/or their pitchers awful? Anyhow, sure is exciting seeing what he is doing to energize the team. Can he do the same for the fan base? Maybe if Royce returns in the next few weeks and is the Royce we came to love the duo can turn this team around.
  3. Amick has caught my eye to start this season. Looking at his physical stats, seems like he is built like a power hitting third baseman. Being a second round pick out of UT, was a good prospect coming into the draft. Sure is off to a great start with his bat this year. My question, what is his defense like? Can he stick at third and be a better than average defender? If so, could be someone to help the Twins beginning two or three years from now.
  4. A couple questions on the injury front. Any word on when Jenkins is expected back? Also, what was the reason Hill didn't pitch this week? Is this Fort Myers staff going to give us another wave of lesser known pitchers in a couple years? Sure was an impressive week from a lot of guys not all that familiar, at least to this old guy.
  5. Hey, let's look at the positive side of this start. The annual draft isn't that far away, is it? I don't follow who are this year's studs being considered for the #1 pick. Hopefully there is that guy playing college ball somewhere who is a consensus number 1. You know, an absolute stud who plays great D, hasn't been injured once in three years of college ball, has a cannon hanging off his shoulder, has blazing speed, hits for power and is on base nearly 50% of the time. You know, a guy who will be ready for 'the show' by May, 2026 and be the 2026 Rookie of the Year. But wait, we have to wait until the 2026 draft to wreep the rewards of this dismal play? Booooo!
  6. Thanks a ton for the report, Sherry. Good to see Winokur get a couple hits after his slow start. He is such an exciting young prospect. On the flip side, see that Sabato is hitting .118 all the way back at low A ball. Such a disappointment for a first round pick.
  7. Thanks for the report, Seth. Don't think I have ever been this depressed about the Twins, gotta keep that from trickling down to my interest in the minors. Interesting game for Prielipp. Checked the replay and saw that he was flat out dominant in the first and second innings. Considering how little baseball he has played, getting hit a bit as he wore down might be expected. Have a question, Seth. Was the last time he pitched a full season back when he was at Tomah High School?
  8. I expect Miranda's stay with the Twins is over. What the Twins need from Miranda is a couple months at St. Paul where he begins hitting like he did in the minors before. Then they need to move him and get something in return, probably around the all-star break.
  9. Was planning a similar comment, TopGunn. Thanks, loved it. I count eight 'future stars' joining the Twins over the last several years, Jeffers, Kirilloff, Julien, Lee, Lewis, Miranda, Larnach and Wallner. All of them showed a ton of promise while in the minors. Most gave us glimpses of future stardom after their arrival. But none have improved after their first exposure as rookies with the Twins. Several have gotten worse. You couldn't have expected all of them to develop into big-league players that solidify a competitive roster, but certainly some of them should. Add the fact that five of the eight have dealt with injuries and you have what we are watching today. Will the next group of future stars, EmRod, Keaschall, Winokur and Jenkins, be different?
  10. Thanks, Tom. Sure looks like both Lee and Keaschall should be ready to join/help the Twins by early summer, at the latest. Will be lots of questions about who they replace, etc. But those questions usually are answered by injuries and/or poor play by player X. Can't be anything but impressed by Soto. Will be following the Wind Surge game tonight with Prielipp on the hill. Does anyone have any current information on how close Lewis is to returning? Sure would be nice to find out if this group, Lewis, Lee, and Keaschall, has what it takes to be good to very good big league players...not pretenders.
  11. Thanks, Seth. Again injuries seem to be the topic of the day. Martin goes down after playing very well for the Saints. Add Jenkins recent trip to the IL to the list and it is sad, so sad for Twins fans.
  12. Great seeing EmRod with a pair of hits, Matt. And thanks for the report. Also liked the game Austin Martin had. Interesting seeing Lee at third base. For those of us who are Badgers, was exciting seeing Carpenter make his professional debut. It wasn't perfect, but he got it behind him and should be better next time out.
  13. Thanks a lot for today's report, Steve. Great seeing an explanation of how those two runs scored against Zebby, who should have been out of the inning without any runs scored. Expect he will slide into Lopez' spot in the rotation. Is it on Sunday? Also great seeing Questad with an eye-opening start. Should be fun watching this trio of Wisconsin kids pitching for the organization this summer.
  14. I think Canterino is a poor example insofar as this discussion is concerned. His arm was destroyed at Rice University. If memory serves, he did get a fantastic education from a wonderful University. Expect he will be putting that to use in the future. As for this discussion, the only thing the Twins/Canterino could have done differently that might have worked would have been a shoulder/arm transplant. Unfortunately, the track record of those being successful isn't good. [Note: I am writing this last comment with a smile, but what was done to him in college is damn near criminal.]
  15. Thanks for posting, Rod. I have been thinking that he reminds me a lot of Gladden ever since that first game in St. Louis. The similarities are there right down to his style of play and longer, wild hair. Considering I still miss the days of the Piranhas, I am looking forward to watching him this summer.
  16. Have the same thoughts as several comments above. Which puts the least stress on a pitcher's arm? Is it starting once a week and going 5-6 innings? Or is it going an inning or even two a couple times a week? I don't know. Question is whether anyone outside of a major league coaching staff/trainers knows? Should he stay a starter or move to the pen later this year doesn't mean that is where he will be long term. As many above have said, I see the most important goal for him this year is to pitch every week and end the season HEALTHY! Another question is whether or not the arrival of Hill and Carpenter will play into their decision of what to do with Prielipp. If both remain excellent starting prospects, there may be less need for Prielipp to stay on that parth.
  17. Add me to those who are elated seeing Prielipp as Wichita's opening day starter. To be honest, I thought 47 pitches was a few more than I expected. Probably should have let him sit after that dominant second inning. Don't know what to say about Hill, other than "you betcha, he sure looked fantastic." My son's office overlooks the ballpark in Columbus. He confirmed the weather has been 100% horse crap for the last week, plus.
  18. Thanks for the report, Seth. Has been way too long waiting for these to return. Two excellent articles in today's Strib. One talks about the development of the Twins pitching pipeline. The other talks about eight players who stood out this spring and will be playing in the lower minor leagues. What I found most interesting is three of the eight are left handed pitchers, Prielipp, Carpenter and Hill. Sure looks like Keaschall's bat is saying I am ready for the 'show.'
  19. I seriously hope that Prielipp spends no more than two months in Wichita before moving up to the Saints. I may be missing something, but other than Jenkins it doesn't appear that the Wind Surge will have a tough lineup for opposing pitchers, will they?
  20. Plus, Prielipp making it three. Am so excited about the two lefties which is something the Twins need, badly. Question, Seth. Do you know if Madison College is still a two year school? Back when I was in Madison, it was Madison Tech. Well, actually it was Madison Central High School which later became Madison Technical College sometime in the 60's, I think.
  21. Thanks, Cody. One player who you didn't talk about is the lefty out of Madison Tech, Carpenter. Is my memory correct and the Twins paid the eleventh round pick significantly over slot? Also recall he could have a high ceiling after a ton of success at Madison. Is that correct?
  22. Very interesting group who should provide a wonderful season for the Cedar Rapids fans. A bit disappointing that DeAndre and Winokur will both be with the Kernels. With the Twins needing a couple big time prospects at shortstop, would be nice if both of these young men got to play the position every night. Unfortunately, I don't know how a team can have two shortstops in the lineup every night. Has to be a bit disappointing for both the Twins and Gonzalez that he is back in Hi-A for another year. You didn't mention Urbina in your report. Also a bit surprising he is repeating Hi-A, isn't it?
  23. Well, the second inning is finally over in Chicago and the Twins are down 7-0. This is flat out ugly. Maybe some are right and the Twins don't have a ton of talent. But I still don't understand how they can be this bad. So I will jump on the Baldelli bandwagon. As the head guy, yes, the buck stops with him. Isn't it his job to get his team mentally prepared to compete? It may be the worst thing about this team right now. And to make matters worse, St. Paul doesn't play today to have something to be excited about. t
  24. Interesting, Nick. Two concerns from your article and my watching, was it yesterday's game? First concern is Lee. Wasn't it known that he had back problems coming out of college? Wasn't last year's absence caused by a back problem? Love what I hear about this young man's talent and have zero concern with his hitting last year. My concern is how often he will be injured and how short his career might be. My second concern was watching Correa jog to first on that ball yesterday. OK, he might not want to run flat out as fast as possible. But he sure could have run moderately hard. Seeing your star run like he doesn't care just doesn't look good. And that's one of the reasons I was already asking myself if this year is already over? Keep hearing great things about Winokur. Can he possibly get here by the middle of next year?
