  1. If he was worth anything he wouldn’t want to come back to an ownership group that routinely underinvests in its roster. Frankly I don’t care if he comes back or not.
  2. Prolly signaling we’ll dump a catcher. Honestly, if it’s Vazquez we’ll have to give away something to move him and If it’s Jeffers it’s disappointing cuz we won’t get anything back.
  3. So we are down grading from Castro to this dude and we are going to like it? BTW, current salary projection is $136m and our cap is $130 so we are dumping before we are adding.
  4. While the thought of that change makes me want to puke, it would be a way to level the salary disparity across the league. Technically depth would be a little less important if your best batsman took the biggest at bat in the game.
  5. Maybe it’s good for him as a player. He certainly could earn more. Giving him a shot could be the right thing to do if you are trying to develop a culture of growth. Dude has worked hard, he deserves a chance to grow even if he flames out and it hurts the team.
  6. Unfortunately I don’t think any of this matters for the next few seasons. Sure you want to protect your assets, but until this team spends the way they could/should our roster is going almost nowhere.
  7. Signing Correa to a long term deal when your best prospect is a SS and close to being ready is not great. Add to that the $30m payroll slash and in makes no sense. The twinkies made it clear they are not serious about fielding a competitive team and have no strategy shaping personnel decisions.
  8. Thank you for pointing out one of Rocco’s strengths. I didn’t know he had any! Unfortunately, I am not convinced this is a strength. Boo Twins! Especially the ownership and front office.
  9. I think our best players are up. They need to play better. Terrible AB’s in high leverage situations have become a theme for this team. Work on approach and mindset. Not so far this year but we hit a lot of HR’s but our RBI totals are down.
  10. Aptly written. There is literally nothing of value to say about this team. We are who we were with a few changes. From a year ago we have diluted our starting pitching. Buttressed that with a thin bullpen and patched together the field with a mixed bag of players who’s first line of their bio starts with “If they stay healthy…”.
  11. Issue number 1 is they are cheap. They do not spend at the level most teams do relative to market size. So new ownership would help more than anything else. I understand the strategy, you know the player can perform if healthy. They are buying cheap because the player is hurt. Unfortunately this strategy has not returned the results they desired.
  12. I am not sure I am right, but my belief is that Kepler is getting a raise at the end of this contract and that is why he has low trade value. That being said, it doesn’t make sense for the Twins to spend the money on him when they have a lot of young outfielders that have a higher upside. I am a little puzzled by this viewpoint and even if Kepler breaks out this season, it’s only one season and I wouldn’t take the risk of paying him to consistently perform at that level.
  13. I am mostly puzzled by this narrative. Neither Bailey nor Ryan are in the bottom quartile of starting pitching in MLB. Yes, our starters, as a group, will take a step back with the loss of Gray but that doesn’t take away anything from either of these guys, who are quality bottom to middle rotation pitchers.
  14. There is still plenty of time for a trade. But, If we roll with this lineup, or less should we trade Polanco and/or Farmer for prospects, I will not be renewing MLB extra innings.
  15. Actually, the major implication of my suggestion is that we have both and use different assets to acquire Lopez. So, pick your poison at second base and enjoy both bats in the line up as well as Lopez.
  16. Wow, interesting narrative. Just imagine if we had this wisdom last year. Arraez would be firmly entrenched as our second baseman and we would have had to use different assets to acquire Lopez.
  17. Poor plate discipline fueled by over aggressiveness. Painful to watch. Not proud of this team collectively in any way.
  18. Was it ever open? Certainly not in the sense we banked on winners to deliver. It seems like we have maintained roster flexibility. So in that sense it seems like the widow is as open as ever but the chance anything big happens is extremely remote.
  19. I like Nelson, but as a manager? Who knows??? I don’t care much for Rocco but this team has had glaring weaknesses every season and I don’t think there is much Rocco can do about that. In baseball going all in on pitching sounds like a great start, but if you can’t hit the ball you are going to struggle, just like we are. Trading Arraez, your only consistent hitter, was not wise. Rolling the dice on your injury prone top talent, was not wise. Signing Correa to a long term deal, who may end up having injury problems was not wise because it’s too risky with a lot of money. The issue is the FO. Maybe they are too constrained? But I would be willing to see what Rocco can do given a little more help.
  20. The Twins FO has manage this asset very poorly ever since he has surfaced, why wouldn't they continue to do so? Evidently they just don't value him as much as others. That being said, this team has several gaps, many shared with other teams in the league. So they have to offer a good/great asset to close the gap. Trying to fill the pitching gap that allows us to get more power in the lineup is not a bad approach. Arraez deserves to be an every day starter at second base to maximize his potential. I hope he gets it.
