  1. He aalso pitched in three games, situational lefty, back in 2004 for the Red Sox. Almost thought he was going to transition to a new career as a piotcher!
  2. We need to put the WIN back in tWINs!
  3. Shaun Anderson signs minor league deal with the Rangers. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/rangers-sign-shaun-anderson-collin-wiles.html
  4. You get the chance and you run with it. Plus, Martin can also play second. And the Twins can figure out first base for the long-term then...will it be Julien or Miranda. Glad to see Kirilloff in the outfield, the one with the most service time and the priority of the Twins needing to make a longterm decision. The sad part of the season so far as that the Twins didn't add strengths to weakness (like experience in the rotation, for one). We can argue the veteran presence of Santana and Margot being equal to Taytlor in the outfield. But many of us are wishing we still had Polanco with an option year rather than, say, Kepler. But one does what one does within salary constraints, and Rocco has to put together a lineup. No easy task today.
  5. I was actually surprised he wasn't catching Simeon to start that second game of the double header. Someone who was familiar with the pitcher. If nothing else, switch him out to catch, say, Bowman, while both are still in the majors. And, if the game is a blowout....... The evils of having so many guys from the 40-man on the IL-list in BOTH the majors and minors. Of course, that could be changed really really fast if you cut bait with at least three guys on the major league roster once people get healthy...nevermind. But glad he got in a game. Unlike, say, Soto a couple of seasons back who collected major league pay for... what ....three days while sitting on the bench.
  6. The Twins didn't bring back a guy who they originally drafted back in 2007 and signed for a couple of seasons to play in St. Paul. He is also one of the few to be on the Twins major league roster, for a day at least, without getting into a game. Elliot Soto signs minor league deal with the Angels. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/angels-sign-bryan-shaw-elliot-soto-to-minor-league-deals.html
  7. Topps fancy "t" in the logo just isn't a grabber. Gary Serum, traded to Yankees for Gagne, Paul Boris and some pitcher named Davis. I often wonder how much effort Topps put into choosing photographs taken during spring training to use on cards, when you look at some of the pictues that looks like they were taken from the stands. With no lens adjustments, filters, whatever.
  8. I'm surprised they didn't start Thielbar in Florida camp in a few game environs before starting his rehab in St. paul. Not that he was absolutely horrible, but I elt he should've had another couple of rounds. Not at all sure the reasoning behind Bowman. Just add Thiebar. Save the roster spot and Bowman's options, unless he has a May walk date we don't know about. Duran, Topa and Staumont are all due back. Who stays and who goes in the end. Staumont and Fundeburk both have options, so that might be the reality there.
  9. Pitchers can always have a bad game now ands then. But so many good pitches this Saturday. Was I surprised that Rocco didn't have Jair catch Simeon? Or totally unsure how the guy can handle any major league abserunners. But Simeon pitched like he wants Varland's job. Be interesting to see what Bowman can do, as the Twins have to make a decision on Thielbar and is sending Fundeburk down just because you can the true answer? Suddently the Twins are 6-7. Not even 15 games yet, so there is still a chance to shine and shine and shine...if the bats can just do their job.
  10. Shoiws how you can never project the future. Having Polanco or Gordon still on the team looks pretty good right now.
  11. One wonders about the future opf Dobnak. He pitched very well tonight until his final inning. Like Brent Headrick, will be be better suited for long relief, and is he capable of maybe getting into a second round of the batting order. And, in doing so, will there ever be a palce for him in Twinsland or is he constantly "just behind" someone else on the prospect list who will be on the 40-man roster. It will be interesting to see who the Twins bring up for Saturday's double-header.
  12. Suddenly NOT a lot of replacement bodies on the 40-man in St. Paul.
  13. There were a few times in minor league hiostory that teams could "borrow players" from another team's minor league system, if someone (too many) went down, and another team had a surplus, so to speak, of players needing play. Especially if you picked up their contract. This might've been one of those scenarios.
  14. Headrick down. Was hoping he come up and pitch some long relief.
  15. I'm Sorry To See "Cash Considerations" Traded. But we still have his twin broither somewhere in the system, I believe.
  16. Well, at least bthe Twins didn't advance 0-17 with 9K's Severino to be the temporary third baseman....yet.
  17. It's only a week. But, yes, I wish they would play the proposed lineup fulltime during the last week of spring training games to get ready for the season. I sometimes feel Rocco over-manages. I feel I'm seeing a bit of it now. Nice to have a gameplan, but you also have to adjust if that plan isn't working.
  18. I'm wondering: What is your thought of the PERFECT lineup that the Twins should put on the field every game. Forget trying to be clever. Let's figure out who works off each other, can make a pitcher throw some pitches, can advance runners when necessary.
  19. J.T. Chargois is on the Marlins short-term IL-list
  20. Not the Twins Danny Santana! This one is a pitcher.
  21. That was really a dismal team. Sometimes we have to remember the quality of the photographers Topps used some seasons and how it was just a "Photo Day" snap, compared to nowadays where the teams have their own photographers who can some some fun things. I cringe when I look at some of the Yearbook photos from that era.
  22. DALLAS KEUCHEL signs minor league deal with Mariners. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/mariners-to-sign-dallas-keuchel-to-minor-league-deal.html SANDY LEON signs minor league deal with with Braves after release from Royals. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/braves-sign-sandy-leon-jackson-stephens-to-minor-league-deals.html
  23. I can't wait to experience any of the prices. The right field box sounds like a joke. Could make it a seasonal space. Igloo the first couple of weeks. Ice Fishing House. Swimming Pool. Bouncey Castle. Sun-bathing Chairs. Kite Flying Square. Pile of Leaves. I miss the Fried Walleye guys that set up outside the Metrodome for many a year.
