I appreciate your point on this and I could have been more succinct. Mine main point was about the volume of groupthink spew regarding Pagan vs his actual impact on the season. Negative WPA might also be a good place for looking at hitters or other bullpen members. I am just stunned by the fixation on Pagán by some on here. I guess his name in a title is good click bait to engage an otherwise increasingly checked out fan base.

It is mind boggling that so many fans who claim to be watching this team can identify Emilio Pagan as the problem with the Twins season. Pretty sure his 2 bad outings are not the reason for this team’s gross underperformance. Pretty sure most of our relievers including Duran have had 2 bad outings this year. The bullpen is not the problem. Some fans reference “low leverage” Innings. Those are unicorn’s for our bullpen. Win or lose most games have been very tight. Score some damn runs and our bullpen will look much better.

Here's How to Make Room for Alex Kirilloff
Wizard11 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope Kirilloff is the star player that we all hope for. That being said he needs to be able to play 6-7 days in a row before we start cutting or benching players to jam him in. As to removing players, Solano was signed to be a right handed bench bat. Castro is only 24 years old with an option year left and plays good defense with speed. Gordon can be used all over the field and has speed though perhaps limited base stealing prowess. Micheal A Taylor is playing great defense, using his speed, and has an OPS over .700 which is great for his role. I am sure Kirilloff appreciates all the fans who are concerned for his future earning power and feel his credentials belie any need to earn his way on the roster by extended healthy performance. His skill set as a left handed corner bat is abundant at the moment and moving other players off the roster with different roles will not logically make this team better. He will get his shot before long as the unfortunate reality is one of the left handed corner bats will get hurt eventually. This team is clicking right now. Winning is the goal, not creating a career path for a much hyped (on TD) minor leaguer. He was drafted 7 years ago and that suggests a bit of muted optimism. That said I do hope he is as amazing as the hype. That would be great.- 43 replies

Hmmm… let’s see…Kirilloff missed most of last season, had no spring training games…hmmm… I guess maybe finish his rehab? 🤔 He did play back to back nine inning games and has hit 3 AAA HRs so let’s start cutting people to get him on the roster.

Tough Decisions Are On Deck for the Twins
Wizard11 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There is some deep irony about a lengthy debate amongst Twins fans as to which healthy players should be on the roster. A quick glance in the rear view mirror suggests that many of these issues will resolve organically. Let’s not underestimate the capacity for this team to find ways to get injured. Kirilloff is still on his 20 day rehab period. When that ends soon we will probably have our first roster friction point -
Maybe Max Kepler Needs to Strike Out More?

Ted, Max has not led off every game this year or even in fact played in every game this year. -
Week in Review: Back with a Vengeance
Wizard11 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins start the season 3-0 and the first comment is a complaint. Would we be 4-0 if a SB had been attempted? Comments sections are getting pretty negative in a year when there is so much to get excited about.- 15 replies

Here are Five Options If Alex Kirilloff Misses Time
Wizard11 replied to Adam Friedman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It is hard not to look wistfully at Encarnacion-Strand and think that we already had our future 1B. At this point I would venture he has a better MLB career than Kirilloff. I hope I am wrong. The all too familiar injury update/word salad from the FO office is ominous.- 50 replies

The funny thing about projection systems from “experts” is they always seem to have the last years division winners winning their division again. Seems silly to even play the games when the outcome is foretold. 🤣 I like the approach the author took to deconstruct the underpinnings of success vs the lazy take of projecting Team WAR which is heavily influenced by recency bias.

Pivotal Year Looms Large for Rocco Baldelli
Wizard11 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Richie, I re-read my post and I realize I left out the rather important caveat that they have not played their positions so far this spring. No doubt your research will uncover that to be accurate- 26 replies

Pivotal Year Looms Large for Rocco Baldelli
Wizard11 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For Baldelli it has to be a bit concerning that his projected 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base starting infielders as well as the CF have yet to play their positions in a game. With injuries to Gordon, Larnach, Alcala, and any others it is a bit ominous for a manager who needs his team to perform over .500. Cue Jaws music….- 26 replies

Luis Arraez Revived the Lost Aesthetics of Baseball
Wizard11 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Love this article and the point about the aesthetics of baseball. Watching Arraez was just fun. His animation, bat control, and joy were fun. A rare craftsman in this age of baseball. Yet I do think the Twins improved the team by trading him -

Should Jordan Balazovic Move to the Bullpen?
Wizard11 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins will open up 3 roster spots when they can move Paddack, Canterino, and Lewis to the 60 day IL. That bodes well for JB having sometime to prove himself. To me the bigger issue is if he starts slow and they wind up needing his roster spot he is likely lost to waivers. Given the potentially short horizon we may be better served by establishing him as a viable reliever (or not) early so as to be able to make a better determination on keeping him. He could move back to the rotation once it is clear that committing a roster spot to him makes sense. Regardless of role if he stinks it up again the first 2 months he will join other washed out prospects on the scrap heap.- 22 replies

Keeping the Rolls Royce in the Garage
Wizard11 replied to Alex Boxwell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I appreciate Ash’s pushback on the endless negative narratives on Rocco and the FO. i think people often dislike what they don’t understand. Rocco has a better career winning % than Gardenhire or Kelly. Same for the FO vs Ryan. They are not responsible for the majority of the 18 game post season losing streak. (This information can be found on spreadsheets 🤣) I do get the fan fatigue with the post season failures. It is soul crushing for devoted fans. It is likely we can all agree on that point. Winning fix’s everything. It erases concerns about lineups, pitching usage, base running strategies, rest days, etc.. winning is always the answer…the rest is just noise -

Trevor Bauer Is Not Worth It
Wizard11 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IMO, any team signing Bauer is giving a big middle finger to women, I think that is a much more significant point then how he would or would not fit in a clubhouse.
