  1. That's fine and dandy, but doesn't change anything regarding the current price point.
  2. The odds of me watching every single game are zero. As it is, I follow about half of the games on the radio because I'm not near a TV in the first place. So, the cost per game would be higher. It's simply not worth the cost to me. I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise.
  3. That's my suspicion as well. That's what all of the context I've seen seems to point to. My understanding is that you'd get all Padres games plus their televised affiliates games and that's it.
  4. I wasn't happy with the cable bundle at all, which is why I got away from DirecTV. I do alternate some of those apps to a degree, but I have other means of consuming Twins games that I've figured out over the last few years that at $20/month, I don't have enough of an incentive to change. I do have a pseudo a-la-carte set up at this point. I'm getting less overall content, but more of what I want and paying less on top of that. It may seem like it, but I'm not really complaining about the situation. I'm perfectly fine with consuming baseball the way I am now, so $20/month isn't a price point that I'm interested in. That's ultimately what I'm getting at. Your mileage may, and apparently does, vary. That's fine. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.
  5. I don't have a cable package to drop. I'm a true streaming household. I already get what I want, I just can't watch the Twins or Wild. So for me, it truly is another $20/month in order to watch just the Twins. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. It's obviously what I choose to do. Your situation could be different. I'm just saying that I'm not willing to pay another $20/month to just watch Twins games. I got away from DTV to save money and if I keep adding apps, I'm right back where I started with largely the same content options.
  6. This is my point. I have all of those too, so I'm right back where you started and still have to get one more thing that is $20/month more in order to watch the one thing I'm interested in. It's monthly fee and app fatigue. And what started as a means to save some cash turns into just a more complicated way of getting the same thing in the end.
  7. No, I agree with that to some extent. I think the NFL would have a greater likelihood of really blowing everything up, but I do think we're at a stage where things are about to change considerably and very quickly. I also think sports will be a driving force in that.
  8. Oh, I know that's an option for local channels. I use Hulu for far more than local channels though, so I'm still paying for that regardless. In this particular case, I have an issue with paying $20/month for essentially just Twins games since I have the other "perks" covered elsewhere anyway. It'd be more palatable if other local teams were included as well.
  9. I haven't seen what the "eligible out of market games" actually includes though. I haven't seen that that isn't just games that are already televised nationally anyway. But that doesn't add a whole lot of value to me personally since I already have an MLB.tv subscription that covers all of that anyway.
  10. You're trading a cable and sports package for the ability to watch ONLY Twins games? I'm a Hulu subscriber and that's my TV, local and live channels and all. I'm not getting rid of that, so I'd be paying another $20/month on top of my Hulu subscription to watch only the Twins. That's a non-starter for me. Adding another channel to a cable package doesn't help me. At some point, the growing list of apps that are required to watch specific things you want watch has to hit a breaking point. When Hulu dropped FSN, my subscription price didn't go do. I'm still paying for it without the benefit of being able to watch the content. It's not even about the money. That isn't a problem. It's the fact that I got rid of DirecTV because it was really expensive for what I watched. If I have to keep adding apps at $20/month each, then I'm right back where I started. At least with the Bally's app, you got access to TWO teams games.
  11. Do you have a point to make? At least provide a productive comment. And I've already addressed this comment...
  12. Polanco reinstated, Julien sent down. https://www.mlb.com/press-release/press-release-twins-reinstate-polanco-option-julien
  13. I was thinking he had an option left, but you do appear to be correct. Either way, there are other arms that can be sent down for a fresh arm in the bullpen and its still easier to do that than sending down a starter. I guess that I don't put Stewart that high up in the hierarchy given his streakiness. But you're certainly welcome too. But you're right, that's probably just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic when it comes to one other than Duran.
  14. Let's stay on the topic of the thread. Thank you very much! 🙂
  15. Its fun to see Kirilloff healthy and productive. He put together a nice month in a lineup sorely needing it. Hopefully he keeps building on it and continues to finally grow to his potential. Jeffers' month seemed to be a quietly productive month. Maybe I wasn't paying that close of attention until recently, but this stretch snuck up on me. Happy to see it. Especially after his struggles last season. Castro, what can I say? It's always fun to see a guy push his way into the lineup by taking the opportunities given to them and making the most of them. That's certainly what Castro has done.
  16. Sure, but that can be done in a thread of its own. Not in the Hitter of the Month thread. The majority of comments in this thread so far involve Gallo and not about the topic of the thread. Now, moving back to the topic at hand...
  17. I imagine that the idea was that Lopez wouldn't get shelled and would be able finish out the game. It's not like Pagan was guaranteed to get through the rest of the game either. But yes, that would have been another option. Not the one I would choose, but not one I'd have been upset with either. At least it was Stewart that was burned up and not one of the better relievers. Stewart can be sent down for a fresh arm.
  18. And I would add that a game like that is a perfect time to get a guy like Lopez work in a low leverage situation to work out some kinks. It obviously went poorly, but that's why you do it. You have some room for error. Plus, there's still a lot of season left and the young starters are already being relied on heavily. And as @IndianaTwin noted, they're coming up on a stretch of 28 games in 30 days. Fresh bullpen arms are easier to cycle through than the rotation guys. I wouldn't have been upset if Varland came out for the 8th, but I don't think it was necessary and there were better uses for that situation in my opinion.
  19. So, offense is fun! Nice outing by Varland. Pretty encouraging to see him work through the couple of tough spots he found himself in.
  20. Because if you already have YouTube TV, that $20/month extra for a Twins app is an additional $20/month. The $73/month for YouTube is irrelevant since you're already paying that anyway. It'd be whatever it cost you to add a "Twins package" to YouTube that would be the difference. Assuming the package on YT is less than $20/month, it's cheaper to go that route.
  21. In theory, giving access to a Hulu or YouTube makes it cheaper for the consumer and thus expanding to more households than a standalone app alone would. I'd personally be more inclined to add a sports or Twins package or whatever to Hulu than paying for yet another app. Assuming the math worked out, of course. I imagine that @Vanimal46 is referring to revisiting revenue sharing after their TV structure has been gutted. That's a significant piece of the pie that leans heavily towards the larger market teams. Existing revenue sharing structure may not properly rebalance that sharing as proportionally as it should in this case.
  22. Ok, so it does help cable subscribers but still leaves streamers hanging to a degree. I suppose overall, that's an improvement but still leaves streamers few options unless you want to chip in $20/month just for Pads games. At least with the Bally's app, you got two teams (no twins obviously) for that price.
  23. Am I reading this correctly? They eliminate streaming blackouts but only if you pony up another $20/month or $75 for the remainder of the season? And if you already have an mlb.tv subscription, it doesn't get you around the blackout rules?
  24. Exactly. I get that he's more familiar with the infield, but that's hardly a safer place to play defense in my mind. So much more going on around you.
  25. Valid points. I just don't see the infield being any safer, whether he's more comfortable with it or not. He's athletic enough to learn a position and that versatility is a selling point for Boras. You may be right in the end, but in my view, I don't really see it mattering much. Regardless, it's a good talker and a good problem to have.
