  1. There's more than one way to be recognized.
  2. Eh, All Star Game and Hall of Fame are for the kids. Do I think Arraez deserves recognition for his year so far? Yes. Do I really care if he's a starter or even on the team...not so much.
  3. I think the amount of injuries (and timing) make the shutout stat misleading too. It's a concern, but it's also probably overblown. Let's just hope they can hit in colder weather (October).
  4. Other than Pineda, who is guaranteed to be on the IL every year, the others are all waiver wire depth pieces. This article actually makes me feel better about the team. (And I wish all the former Twins the best of luck. While some moves are obvious business moves, one never knows fully what motivates a free agent to sign somewhere, be it money, family, city, change of scenery, coaching etc.)
  5. Is he going to be healthy? Nobody can predict that. He's already been on the list twice (IL/Covid). It's not hard to imagine he gets hurt again and the Twins are "stuck" with him for 3 years (if I remember all the contract what-ifs correctly).
  6. I'd guess Buxton or Correa. It's a popularity contest. Arraez is a long shot to me because 1B tends to be loaded in the sexy offensive stats (HR/RBI).
  7. The best solution is to limit high leverage situations overall. The fact is that players get hot/cold. Hopefully Smith is better by Sept/Oct again. And the team adds or develops 2-3 more trustworthy arms who are hot at the right time. While I think the bullpen right now is stressful, to be polite, the past few seasons have had similar patterns of instability that slowly builds up by year end.
  8. Because the internet was invented so we can complain more, to strangers. Even about nice things.
  9. I never worry about a Buxton double play.
  10. While I think this kind of article and "trade chains" are fun, the fact of the matter is that trades are supposed to benefit both sides. They aren't intended to be competitive and "won." I'm also surprised the Young/Garza trade was the first trade together in the two franchises' histories.
  11. Not gonna read the comments on this one. But best of luck to him and he seems, from distant observation, to be tenacious enough to come back stronger.
  12. Rogers is a good pitcher, but he's not elite. Personally, I think he wouldn't been mediocre here this year anyway. A baseless hunch. He seems to perform best when surrounded by more high leverage arms. In MIN, he'd be the guy and he was pretty inconsistent the past couple of years. He was due for a change of scenery, as they say. Best of luck to him. I also still think you take 2 years of a SP for 1 year of RP almost every time.
  13. The top 3 on here are all deserving, at present. Which probably sums up why they're in first place right now. Hopefully somebody else picks up the slack (e.g. Correa now as Buxton struggles) when the slumps inevitably come.
  14. Megill has earned the W stat so far.
  15. Correa has flipped a switch.
  16. I think the modern game suffers from too many pitchers. But if you're the GM and want to handicap your bench that's your choice. Feel the same about the shift.
  17. Is he at all stretched out. Like, is there even a 25% chance we see a 9 inning complete game shutout?
  18. I like the daily shortcuts to the game threads.
  19. This seems like an effort to brand this year's team to me. I don't find any of this particularly experimental or unique. I'm not sure what it means about the real FO plan, but I find it odd that media outlets seem to have forgotten about the lockout entirely, since it completely shifted the dynamic of offseason moves and planning. (A little off topic, but I had to say it somewhere...)
  20. Further proof we shouldn't miss Bauer.
  21. These First Round picks are dragging us down. All 3 outs. Obviously this FO needs to go.
