  1. Of course, he can still be traded (unless MLB changed the non-waiver rules in the past year too).
  2. Competitive and Entertaining may be synonyms for you, but they aren't for everyone.
  3. He's obviously injury prone. Cut/trade him. /sarcasm
  4. How has Farrell looked? His numbers seem decent so far, like we may have finally found another MLB pitcher after a dozen tryouts.
  5. I understand that exit velocity is a fancy way of saying "hard hit," but I find stats like that and how many ft a HR was hit to be unnecessary and more for marketing than anything else. A HR is just as many runs if goes 330 ft or 500, at 80 mph or 130.
  6. He's also one more suspension away from significant time.
  7. Do not extend a pitcher who has never played a full season without an IL stint and has never had more than a 2 year contract (for that same reason). He's a reliable pitcher, when healthy. But he'll be available in the offseason if they are interested.
  8. Shoemaker seems like like he hits a wall. His starts have been solid...through about 4 innings each time. Gotta find the solution to that. I get it the first 2-3 starts of the year but it's almost June now. (A pitcher who gives you 3-4 solid innings is still leagues ahead of most of this bullpen right now.)
  9. Is it just me, or are the load times really slow now?
  10. Who is the roster move for Pineda?
  11. Quit paying attn in the 9th, but not surprised Robles blew it -- no offense to him; he just threw a lot of pitches yesterday (and they have no other options). Anyway, I just want to say I really like this recap style. Nice write-up.
  12. I know "confidence" is 100% intangible and these are professionals so it shouldn't matter but...it does and it's impossible to measure how much. I'm curious how much different the Twins bullpen would look right now if they'd had a few of these games early on, so the struggling pitchers (e.g. Colome, Duffy, even Dobnak) could have gotten back in their groove. But that's what happens when you always put yourself in a hole.
  13. Other than 2020, he's been one of the most consistent hitters on the team in recent years (for contact, I'm still suspicious of the HR rise in '19). Let's not forget that it also takes a mental toll on many players when they change positions.
  14. That's a lot of First Rounders in the Bigs (already) this year. And that's how you build a sustainable roster.
  15. Still don't know what to make of Colome. It's been painful but...he wasn't giving up hits. It was a weird combination of walks, HBP, and errors. If he can get his control figured out, he might be salvagable.
  16. That is too much to dream. Because in a dream scenario where the Twins have too many good players (not such thing, btw), other teams will lowball because it's perceived that the Twins have to get rid of somebody.
  17. I think a lot depends how they feel about Arraez in left. Polanco has been hitting better, but I think it adds pressure on Polanco, Kepler, and Sano, probably in that order. (But this is baseball...somebody else will soon go the IL and we'll be complaining about a AAAA utility guy getting the call-up soon enough.)
  18. I know this is a joke, but if they can put together a weeklong stretch (they're already at 3 days) it goes a long way towards a reset. It blows my mind that in an era of 14 pitchers on a roster relievers still get outside of their best roles but that's where we are. Now let's get Colome into one of these blowouts (if we're going to bother rostering him any longer).
  19. The best solution to a struggling bullpen is a quality start.
  20. He only scored twice after being on base 5 times... It's just one game, but I see him hitting 3-4 right now too. Which is not what I would have ever said before this season.
  21. Demote Stashak until he figures it out. That's the curse (for a player) of having options left. Put Colome on 5th-6th inning duty for a couple weeks. Call up...anybody else. They can't do worse.
  22. Um, there was a Covid outbreak and they just put like 5 players on the IL. I'd say their depth is pretty deep considering the abnormal circumstances. A lot of teams would be pillaging AAAA castoffs and AA at this point. Have the back-ups underperformed through 3 weeks? Yes. But baseball is a game of streaks. Players aren't going to continue to hit sub .200. It's also like 45 degrees outside, which isn't ideal for a game with a lesser action level. This will inevitably affect some players' performance.
  23. I swear I read that when he was among the final cuts in mid March (because it surprised me at the time), but google isn't backing it up. I guess it's just my old age.
