  1. Twins FO should have called Detroit after the walk-off and demanded a ridiculous trade offer for DET to keep him w/o Rule 5 attachment (not sure if they can do that before he's exposed to waivers etc).
  2. Still don't know what to make of Colome. It's been painful but...he wasn't giving up hits. It was a weird combination of walks, HBP, and errors. If he can get his control figured out, he might be salvagable.
  3. The case that Shoemaker essentially isn't ready for the workload is interesting on it's own. But I think Dobnak's non-exhibition stats speak for themselves.
  4. Clearly they're trying to boost Saints ticket sales.
  5. That is too much to dream. Because in a dream scenario where the Twins have too many good players (not such thing, btw), other teams will lowball because it's perceived that the Twins have to get rid of somebody.
  6. I think a lot depends how they feel about Arraez in left. Polanco has been hitting better, but I think it adds pressure on Polanco, Kepler, and Sano, probably in that order. (But this is baseball...somebody else will soon go the IL and we'll be complaining about a AAAA utility guy getting the call-up soon enough.)
  7. I know this is a joke, but if they can put together a weeklong stretch (they're already at 3 days) it goes a long way towards a reset. It blows my mind that in an era of 14 pitchers on a roster relievers still get outside of their best roles but that's where we are. Now let's get Colome into one of these blowouts (if we're going to bother rostering him any longer).
  8. It's never too early for a team looking to improve. But it takes two teams for a trade and it may be too early for others who are liquidating.
  9. The best solution to a struggling bullpen is a quality start.
  10. He only scored twice after being on base 5 times... It's just one game, but I see him hitting 3-4 right now too. Which is not what I would have ever said before this season.
  11. It's unusual, but I read it as circumstantial. The games where we was on the roster were all very close. If he wasn't getting the start, he wasn't going to pinch hit either.
  12. Demote Stashak until he figures it out. That's the curse (for a player) of having options left. Put Colome on 5th-6th inning duty for a couple weeks. Call up...anybody else. They can't do worse.
  13. Overall I think the lack of minor league play is affecting everyone. Players just aren't as "prepared" and while there is an alternate site, there is no comparison to having alternate live games. The only way to get real live action is to carry a player on the active roster and hope they can work their way through it.
  14. There is no AAA to send him to right now.
  15. Um, there was a Covid outbreak and they just put like 5 players on the IL. I'd say their depth is pretty deep considering the abnormal circumstances. A lot of teams would be pillaging AAAA castoffs and AA at this point. Have the back-ups underperformed through 3 weeks? Yes. But baseball is a game of streaks. Players aren't going to continue to hit sub .200. It's also like 45 degrees outside, which isn't ideal for a game with a lesser action level. This will inevitably affect some players' performance.
  16. I'll take it, but who doesn't prefer a 5 HR 5 hr game instead?
  17. On the bright side, I don't think you ever worry about a 38 year-old's pitch count.
  18. Didn't Kirilloff have a hit in his first game this year? Did the scorer change it? Or am I, once again, remembering things wrong.
  19. When is the last time Nelson Cruz stole third base?
  20. Is GameDay accurate. Was that pitch...over his head?
  21. I swear I read that when he was among the final cuts in mid March (because it surprised me at the time), but google isn't backing it up. I guess it's just my old age.
  22. Here's hoping it's all part of a slow development for Gordon. My memory is often wrong on these things, but I feel like everybody had given on up Span by the time of his call-up too, and he had a productive career.
  23. Tough break for Blankenhorn. On the other hand, he was assigned to AA out of Spring Training, which doesn't scream that they have confidence in his readiness.
  24. Considering they used Kirilloff in a strictly platoon situation during the early doubleheader, I don't get the impression they think he's ready for primetime.
